    Winch Switch

I just got my switches in from OTRATTW today and im pretty sure ive got it figured out how to wire my radio switch but im needing some help with my winch switch. Does anyone here have any pics of the back of their winch rocker switches to use as a guide? or anything of help. I remember seeing one pic of a switch showing a "hotwire" kinda from one power to two in order to get the lights of the switch to work but i cant find it. Thanks for the help

here is what the switch looks like and the diagram. I have the regular ATV winch switch from Motoalliance. Going to take it apart but need to know which wires go where for this switch.

Ok.. Not too difficult based on the diagram..

Do you want the lights to light up when you rock the switch.. or on all the time?

    As to the winch wiring...

I'm pretty sure that is a split backplane switch. If you have a multimeter you can check if there is continuity between #1 and #4.. If no continuity, then you only need to use one side of the switch (the other side could be used for a rear winch).

You will hook the hot wire from the contactor to #2, then the "Out" wire to #1 and the "In" wire to #3. You can test which is which by touching each of the wires to the hot wire and seeing which way the winch moves.

Make a "Y" cable that goes to 7 and 9 and then to ground (-)..

If you want lights on all the time. Make a "Y" that goes from #2, #8, #10.. If you want only when rocked.. Make a jumper that goes from #8 to #1 and another that goes from #3 to # 10.

    One more thing...

If you winch is wired correctly then the Hot from the contactor will only be Hot with the ignition on..

If wired incorrectly, then the Hot wire is Hot all the time and your switch lights could be on all the time killing your battery..
