MMA 2.5 lift on the way

Since the addition of the windshield, roof, plow mount etc... I have been looking to get some ground clearance back. I have already had to clean out the play mount and I really do not want to bang that on a rock and end up bending one of the ears. I looked at the highlifter brackets and they are very tempting at only a little over $100, but I ended up with the MMA 2.5. I really like that it is a welded bracket and not two separate pieces for each shock mount... My post today is asking for advice on how I should have the shocks setup as well. I have not touched the shocks at all from the dealer and I don't want to mess anything up but wow this thing does a nose dive when it picks up the plow! What setup should i be running for the stock shocks? I am running stock wheels and tires and will be until I wear them out probably. Should I make a change to plow and then go back if I am riding in the woods?

    TIA,

Maxing the preload on the front shocks (metal ring thing with detents on each shock) will help with plow nose diving but will make the ride rougher. Moving the top of the front shocks to the outer hole will have a similar but not as big of an affect. The ride really goes downhill at this point. If you do this to all 4 shocks you'll gain an inch or maybe 2. I'd try maxing front preload only, testing, moving front shock out, testing, doing both to rear shocks and adding a few hundred lbs of blast weight all the way to the back of the bed, testing, and then finally ordering stiffer springs for the front. For plowing you actually want to be low and heavy. So maybe just try the ballast idea when plowing
I am just rambling at this point.

I had a plow for my Sportsman 700 years ago. The thing would plow way way better when I had wife or friends or total strangers sitting on the rear rack facing backwards. Leveled it out, slammed it down and she'd move snow like a dozer. And it was fun getting cussed at too.

Good call on the MMA lift. The HL lift sucks. It is an upper bracket lift, and makes it ride like a steel wheeled wagon. The MMA lift retains soft ride and is a lower bracket lift, and much easier to install. I'd leave your shocks as they are, install the lift, then try out your plow and then make incrememtal adjustments if needed.

I set all four shocks to the middle position. To me it feels much more stable when riding in the woods (at stock setting it felt to tippy) but still a nice ride.

I feel like my crew is a little "tippy" as well. I have not touched the shocks yet so I think I might adjust the snail cam(?) to about the middle as well and give it a ride. It is at the lowest (softest) setting from the factory? Just to make sure that I understand correctly, that changes the shock rate and moving it up form the bottom will make the ride stiffer? Moving the shock to a different bolt would just change the ride heigth?

Lift should be in today, but it finally has snowed here for the first time this year... I am sitting at work doing nothing waiting for 4PM to see if there is enough for me to hook up the plow and try her out.

My MMA lift just came in the mail today, as well as my new wheels and tires. Looking forward to trying them out. Just curious what tool everyone uses to adjust the spring tension on the shocks?

Have not used it yet, but I was planning on the tool that came in the tool kit.
