We use our Ranger on the farm to haul hay and plow snow, and check fences, generally get around the property. Our 2010 6x6 Ranger started sputtering and stalling while still under warranty. It is unpredictable in this behavior but certainly handicapping when it occurs. We took it back to the dealer and they sent it back stating they could not reproduce the problem. It has continued to sputter and stall unexpectedly, every few days or so, often completely stalling out. Sometimes it runs better after restarting from a stall, sometimes it keeps sputtering. Recently it started surging upon startup, a dangerous situation which nearly put one of us over the hill. We then promptly sent it back to the dealer and they said "the throttle cable was bound up at the gas pedal". Supposedly fixed it, changed oil & filter and $212.49 later, it's still stalling out and who knows if the engine is going to rev on its own again and take off full throttle like it did before.
Until it's fixed it's going to be called Danger instead of Ranger.
One code on throttle this last time which the dealer cleared TPS learn error
Welcome to the PRC JK.
I'm having the same problem, btw... Replaced the Tbap and still doing it...
Is there a pointer to a thread with the fix with the TPS and the Idler Air thingy?
Still stalling out. Also when it came back from dealer repair the steering column is messed up. Tilt wheel function won't lock and the steering wheels all over the place! Not happy!!
