    09 Ranger Help please!

    Ok,
Too start off I went for a big ride this weekend. Friday and Friday night it ran great. Saturday morning i noticed it started to sputter and loose power. I was a little confused since it is only 6 months old. it just got woarse and woarse. So at this ATV park there was an on site Mech. and he ran a pressure check for me and it was at 40 pounds, but thats all he could tell me. any ideas??
i have lots of faith that someone on here has seen this

Sounds like a TPS Issue or TBap issue. I would check and see if there are any codes.

Do you mean he ran a cylinder compression test and it was only 40 psi??? I hope that's not the case. If that is correct, then you have an issue that needs attention. Hopefully Curt or somebody will chime in to confirm, but I think cylinder compression should be up around 120 psi.

When I read that I took it as meaning fuel pressure - I'm hoping that's what he was meaning. Fuel pressure / 39 psi.

As long as he meant fuel pressure its OK. Cylinder pressure is 150. I would check the codes first, then look at the wiring at the Tbap sensor, and at the TPS. Theres even a chance the Tbap sensor is dirty. You could try cleaning it with carb cleaner. Its usually one of 4 things, Tbap issues, TPS issues, CPS issues, or fuel pump issues. Make sure your fuel tank vent is not plugged either.

yeah sorry. it was the fuel PSI. he connected a gauge right on the injection rail?
ok so last night I washed the machine real good and seam to run alot better, but that was up and down a short road. i dont think a good bath would have fixed it. I looked at all the wires by the motor and dont think there is a broke wire, but they where real muddy.

Curt, you recommend cleaning the Tmap Sensor with carb cleaner? I was told recently that we should be using a electronic cleaner for the Tmap? You have worked on more of these things than most and I assume that is the process you have been using without any problems. Just curious.
