    Custom doors

I am in the process of making my half doors for my ranger, Question I have what should I use for the skin of the door? Something that wont cost a lot, I would need about a 30"x 30" piece. Also I plan on riveting them down to the 1/2" conduit.

Sheet aluminum, or even galvanized sheet metal, are easy to purchase, easy to work with, and will take a beating in the rough terrain. Hem the edges for strength and safety. Paint to match, take pics and post em here.

yea I called the local steel supply and they want $164.00 for a 4'x8' sheet of galvanized, hoping for something a little cheaper.

At my recycle center they sell 4x8 sheet of aluminum diamond plate for $100. Pretty thin but the stamping seems like it adds strength to it. I would say less than 1/8 maybe .065

If they are the only supply around they get to stick to their prices. Here in Indy area I have 4 options. 3 are high priced for the same material 1 sells at wholesale prices, to the public. Another thought is buy the 4x8 sheet, enough to make several door panel sets, (3) and offer 2 of them up for sale here and make enough $$ to pay for your own set - free.

I end up going to home depot and seeing what they had- they had some .025 diamond plate so i figured why not give it a shot. Ended up working out pretty good, after i bought it I end up remembering a local metal company that also supplies all sorts of metal, got ahold of them and they only wanted 18.00 for a 30 x 30 right around the same thickness so i will go there for the other door.

So far this is what I have.
I used 1/2' conduit for the frame and the used a thicker diamond plate for the corners all were riveted together.
Then used the thinner diamond sheet and riveted that to the conduit.
For the hinge i Used the other end of the barrel locks since i had a bin full of them, pinched them down to fit a 3/8" bolt a little tighter.

Need to make some type of latch now to hold it close and secure.

Excellent work and likely something others would be very interesting in purchasing and/or building...
