I pulled the bed off to check my intake connections again and I noticed that the throttle body does not fit on the boots as well as I would want it. They fit but they do not push up to the base, they are on just enough for the clamps to hold them on. I looked at the air box and decided to move it to the right side of the bracket. Now it fits snug and the boots are not trying to pull themselves off. Was mine installed wrong from the factory or did I stumble on to something here? Please check the pics of the box and bracket and tell me.

Hmm, mine was installed the way you have it now. I think yours, was installed wrong from the factory.

Mine are like your after pic also. You might have stumbled onto something there.

Thanks for the replies. At least I know I have it right now and maybe somebody else will learn from this. I have a very early build date so I am sure they were throwing them together. Oh well no problems from it yet and it runs great.

Just went and looked through the service manual to see if I could find a pic that shows how its should be mounted (or should I say how they had it when they wrote the service manual) and I found one pic that shows it clearly on page 3.19...

Good work guys, no it's better then good, how about FANTASTIC work guys. Now we know why some are having problems with the boot coming off the air can. As soon as I saw the first picture I knew it was wrong. Just worked on mine. When the can is on the motor side of the bracket the boot fits very tight. This really explains a lot. This is something all should check. Wish we could have a must check/FAQ or something to post these kind of very key post.

Don't you just love the information on this forum?

Thanks for all the data guys. I posted this last night and already got confirmation on my finding. You guys are what make this forum so successful. Well maybe we will save a few people from an early rebuild.

As part of the EHS Racing airbox install you add a bracket to the filter box mounting bracket. It pushes the housing on even further as noted in the pic.
