Folks, I am going to start this post with one intention. We have these posts scattered in many different places and I would like to collect and focus attention to this one thread. Then, should I need to "point out" what I am talking about it will be easier!

So, with that in mind, here is what I would like posted here. Please put the year of your machine, VIN number if you want, SPECIFIC problem you are seeing, whether engine is using oil or not, has it been worked on by dealer already and is needing it again and how many hours are on the machine.

PLEASE, ONLY AIRBOX issues here. Also, keep it to information only as rants do no one any good in this thread. Also, please NO posts with what you have done for a fix. We will start a different thread for that. If you are having other problems with your machine, it needs to be in a different post. ONLY the requested information please. All posts not complying will be deleted without explanation. This is an attempt to collect airbox issues in one place. Thanks for understanding and helping with this.

Bought 9/29/07. 9/4/07 build date, 42 hours, 447 miles. Throttle body boot came off (at the throttle body) in May at around 300 miles. Fortunately, a short ride, but enough to completely cover the throttle body plate, and cause bad idle. Continually see light dust in the intake tube beyond the filter. No indication as to why, except passing through the filter. Have not had any oil consumption to note, but have put less than 200 miles on it since my first incident.
No issues during the winter months, and of course warrenty expired before summer riding season. Have not had it checked by dealer.

How is that?

Build date 05/21/2008, purchased June 13, 2008 have 102 miles on it, checked the air cleaner approx 4 times, pulled my rear seat off to check the oil and saw quite a bit of residue around the boot at the throttle body, pulled the air cleaner out and had a fairly clean intake tube till the throttle body, I have riden in only a SMALL amount of dust till now and the dust was coming through the boot at the throttle body, clamp was tight, I now have installed a Dragon Fire racing canister, I took pictures of the boot and thottle body etc before I cleaned it, I was lucky to catch it very early as neither were too bad yet but I would still like to see some kind of recourse from Polaris even though we have been proactive and changed the factory system to PREVENT failure or hopefully anyways. Honestly I would rather run stock than aftermarket but I see no choice in this matter till something better comes along.

Ive got two buddys in this small town that bought 08s new last year and they both have oil consumption problems due to dust ingestion. There telling me to be very careful before buying one. I live in the UP of michigan and the trails up here can get very dusty. If this doesnt count because there not mine and I shouldnt have posted the moderator can feel free to delete this.

Build Date: 6-15-07
Vin # 4XAVH76AX8D327069
Did service bulletin update ( Air box issue )
Oil consumption 8 oz every tank
1480 miles

Dealer is well informed in writing - have bee using oil for some time now, dealer and I have both found dirt in throttle body and loose boot. I maintain my equipment very very well and do not abuse in any way, I go long Dependability is my main concern. I ride in dunes in the summer and desert in the winter. I just go long in the desert and short rides in the dunes. I go for 3-4 day's at a time then come home do complete maintenance then get ready for next trip. I go about 6 times a year.

If you folks can, go to all the other sites you visit, have the ones with legit complaints to come here and post the same information. Yes, they will have to register but, I need to see for myself the number of folks that are having issues. Remember, this is for posts dealing ONLY with RZR airbox issues.

I am one of the guys Lloyd is refering to.I bought my rzr on 07-31-07.I got lucky because of my misfortions early on (blown trans with 136 miles on machine,2nd day of ownership.)Polaris was so kind to give me an extended warrenty which i had to use on the second from last day for a top end rebuilt.cost me 50 bucks (they should have paid me to buy this sad excuse of an atv, what a joke.)I was burning 1 qt of oil every 100 miles from about 1100 miles on until i had it rebuilt at 1725 miles. SO LISTEN UP POLARIS ,YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW,SO QUIT DRAGGING YOUR FEET AND FIX IT.THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!! Oh and by the way i changed my air filter 8 times, and my oil 5 times.I have receits to prove this.SO ELECTEC AND ANY OTHER MODS PLEASE TAKE OFF YOUR BLINDERS TOO THIS PROBLEM

For starters Bruce (Electec) started this thread in order to maybe get some good stats for a little leverage with this problem. We're all well aware of the problem, trust me! I guess maybe if we we're in the hip pockets of Polaris like a few think we would've gotten this problem fixed a long time agao! All we're doing is trying are best to work with Polaris to try and get them TO FIX THE PROBLEM so bare with us.

From all that I have read about this air box issue it is obviuosly a problem. I think this thread is agreat idea because to me it seems like the more info you can gather here the more it will help you to work with Polaris in fixing the problem. I know the patience part is a really hard pill to swallow for some but from what I am seeing I think it will pay off. I also think you guys (Chief,Gary, Carnivore, Etc.) are doing a great job and a great service for any one having these problems. It really suck to see some immature people give you guys the crap they are giving, because I don't see anyone anywhere else devoting the time and effort to these issuses as much as you guys are. Sorry just tired of reading bogus posts! Thank you again for you generosity!

Thanks John, we appreciate the support! We are trying to get answers for you guys and it is ridiculous that some want to blame PRC for this problem.
