Finally got the new Boss plow mounted to my '09 XP SE last week. It looks to be a winner.
6 foot polymer blade, on and off in a flash, looks rugged enough to handle the job. Power angle, Float, no down pressure, but it can be dropped and held if need be.
No skid shoes with it though. May have to add some until the ground freezes up.
It lifts up very high for stacking and getting out of those places you probably shouldn't have been anyway. It runs the same hitch as the regular Boss plows, with the smart touch controller.
Overall I'm pleased, But the real test is yet to arrive.

I was planning on getting a plow this year. Do you recommend the Boss plow over the glacier? I looks awesome in the videos, but it obviously costs a lot more. The local dealer is quoting me $3700 for the Boss plow.
Right now I don't have a winch or brushguards on the front, but was also thinking of getting those. Is the Boss plow compatible with brushguards or the internal mount winch?
Thanks _________________ Chris

The Boss is nice, I plow a huge parking lot and some driveways. I also plan on picking up some more driveways with in driving distance. So thats why I went this way.
But it comes with some drawbacks as well. The T-handles that mount the plow stick out too far to ever allow use with tracks. Also the mounting of the electrical connectors, is where the front winch would normally go.
I will probably mount a winch off the rear at some point.
I would not be afraid of the Glacier system at all. I went with the Boss because I plow a lot of snow. I had a Glacier V-Plow set up on my X2 and it worked very well. Also about half the price.
I paid around $3,400.00(installed) But it was tied to the Ranger purchase. The dealer who was skeptical when we ordered it, said it was the best system he has ever seen after install.
For me the power angle was the deciding factor as it makes it much easier to plow around vehicles and other obstacles. Also the Boss's blade height is higher, which should equate to less spill-over. And if you plow a lot your winch takes a beating.
If this works half as good as I think it going to I should be a very happy camper. I will try to get some detailed pictures up soon.

Thanks for the info. The Boss plow would probably be overkill for me, but it looks so great! I'm also kind of lazy, and I'm thinking that changing the angle and moving the blade right to left would be awfully nice to do from the comfort of the warm Ranger seat! _________________ Chris

Wow, based on my measurements from your photo's the front drops almost 4 inches with the plow up. I will check my Glacier when I get it on.
Nice plow by the way. Way cool. _________________ "Just remember every thing is easy once you know how to do it!" Me

Front shocks are still in the soft ride hole, and set on the weakest position.
I think I will be moving them to the other hole set. |

| I installed the Boss plow on my 700 XP. It shocked me the first time I used it. I plowed dirt and could not believe what it could do and how much dirt it could move, scrap and control where you wanted the dirt to be. I also install later on the skid feet which I had to call Boss Industries to find out about so I can plow snow over un-even ground. The only problem I have discovered is the plow blocks the headlights at night so I built a light bar for the plow mount and added high headlights. Yes, it costs a lot more than other plows but the add capabilities is worth the bucks. |
