Probably a different part number for the different length of the wiring harness. _________________ Ed 08 RZR. 09 RZR S

this would be interesting to know for I was planning on checking with my dealer while I was up in Utah for the bracket SKU # in hopes of getting the bracket to reposition the regulator to the 09 spot. I was hoping that the regulator would be the same and I would just need the bracket. What do you think guys?

All you need is the bracket, wiring and time. _________________ Sandblaster

I dont mind spending the $$ if the 09 is been reworked to be better not just longer wires. _________________ Gibson, MPI controller, power commander, pistons, cam, porting, Long Travel Industries Long Travel and cage, HID all around, wide band O2,ect,ect, ect....

I got the bracket, it's # 5252587 and it's 2,25$. 5,00$ with the screws.
Not installed yet but just by looking, seem to fit. if not, new holes will appear _________________ 4500km of pure fun! |

The bracket comes with protrusions at the mounting holes. I found the easy way was to grind the bracket flat, position and drill 1/4" holes. Used bolts with lock nuts to mount. To make the bracket work otherwise seemed to require drilling and mounting from the radiator side. So much simpler to make the bracket flat and drill from the front of the RZR. Also take off the front grill plastic the lights mount in. _________________ Sandblaster

Thanks Sandblaster, was it you that had the installation notes somewhere on the forms as to wires and routing?
I plan on doing the move this winter when I can't get on the dunes,

Wasn't me. Forgot who it was for sure. I did things different then he stated. If I was doing it again, I would simple use the same size and color of wire and extend the harness. The length given, 5' I think, was not enough for me. Short by about 18" or so. I would make the extension plenty long, easier to cut off then to add a second time. Soldering is good, but I used the blue wire crimps on the OEM mounting area. Hard to get to otherwise with the short wires. Again, use the same size, not larger wires. The larger wires are overkill, look at 09', and make the job harder. If using crimps, after crimping, pull firmly on the connections to make sure it is crimped correctly. Better to find a weak crimp now then wonder why things are not working. Have used crimps for many years in many application without issue. The only problem is bad crimps to start with, use the pull test to avoid that issue. Also wrap all connections real will with good black tape. That keeps the water out. Tape is cheap, use generously. _________________ Sandblaster

I would add that seal with RTV. I'm down by the ocean most rides and I'm amazed @ where the corrosion occurs, When I'm down for this maintance I'm going to go all over this ride to seal and paint,

Yep! Been there. What I found worked the best is lots and lots of fresh water as soon as possible to wash off the salt. Rode sport quads for years in the sand. Lots of water and good chain lube, for them, had very little problems with corrosion. Did have some in wiring connectors after years. Learned to pull, clean and lube at the first sign of problems. But the sand fun was sure worth it. _________________ Sandblaster

Instead of remounting it why not just put a computer fan on it...... _________________ Gibson, MPI controller, power commander, pistons, cam, porting, Long Travel Industries Long Travel and cage, HID all around, wide band O2,ect,ect, ect....

Have you seen where it is? I don't think a fan would last more than a day or two. Also thats just another load that the system that is already under powered would have to power.
If Polaris feels that the regulator needs more room to breath (the 09) than that's good enough for me.
I have one of those Walmart voltage monitors that plug into the plug on the dash and you would be amazed how the voltage falls when you turn on your lights.
