    Light Bar and Mounting

Mornin' people! I want to mount a light bar on on the roof of my 2017 XP 900. Do these light bars just mount directly to the plastic PO sport roof? With nothing to "stiffen" the mount? Seems like a low branch would knock it off. Ideas?

    Thanks for any help!

This is what you need. I wouldn't drill through the roof.

Thanks Jobo!. Problem is I want to use a 30" lightbar I already have. These mounts go from one side of the cage to the other; more like a 50" bar.

Use the steel frame under the roof and drill thru the roof and the brace. Before fastening it down use some RTV or silicon to seal the holes. You would be better off getting a longer light for the roof. JMHO.

I gotcha. I didn't know. I would definitely use some kinda backing plate. Maybe even two pieces of 1/8" flat bar and sandwich the plastic. Polaris roofs are notorious for cracking, flying off on the interstate, etc. I would definitely stiffen it up the best you can.

You will be fine using the flat bar as you described. If you are driving thru limbs it could damage light or roof but I dont drive thru limbs.

It depends on your use of the machine..some do some extreme trail riding but honestly no matter how mounted on roof...limbs will damage either the light or roof.

My roof has preformed recesses for light mounts and I added a small light bar and haven't had issue. I too can't use the roll bars as there encased by solid window frame.

As an example...mine came with a grab handle leaning bar at the rear. Its mounted straight to roof and serves those sitting in bed mounted elevated seat system.

It's been up there for 6 years....used to lean on for many hog hunts and have had zero issue. It's been used but not abused.

Hell...the mounts for the roof are affixed to roof with rivets from factory. Just keep an eye on them....these are the reason people lose roofs towing at 70mph on highway. If one fails and roof begins to lift the results are ugly.

I put a 22inch on mine when I got it, already had it that's why I used that size. I drilled through the plastic roof and the metal supports under it and bolted it down that way, it is plenty sturdy if you go through the metal supports and it also helps hold the roof on more securely when pulling it on an open trailer down the highway. I drilled another hole for the wiring and siliconed it and the bolts to keep the rain out.
