Just recently noticed that while in 2WD that it will kick in and out of 2WD once it gets around 15-20MPH. It doesn't seem to do this at slower speeds. Any ideas of what I need to look at.

Correct. And it will kick back in to 2wd when speed drops. Just tried it in Low and it does it about the same speed if not just a little sooner may 12ish mph. I'm not sure how long it's actually been doing it , today was the 1st time I've noticed it, was on blacktop when it happened. I'm always in turf mode unless off-road and actually need 2WD.

The actuator I believe unlocks the rear axle so if there was an issue it would stay locked in. I have the 900 2014 never really noticed if it unlocks at higher speeds. Seems like it must be a safety feature or something if it is doing it at the same speeds all the time probably save from breaking a axle or something but at the same time I would want both rear tires spinning if I'm on the trails

If by some chance it's a safety feature, it's not very safe!!! When it kicks out of 2wd the bike makes a quick jerk to the left. If it happened at a higher speed it could get a little sketchy.

Normal mode is 2wd with the rear locked. When the solenoid operates it unlocks the rear and you have an open differential but both wheels still pull.

Does the turf mode light come on when it kicks out of 2wd?

Are your rear tires aired up to the same pressure and are they the same height?

I havent noticed the light coming on but I will check that today along with disconnecting the solenoid.

Tires are all the same size and same pressure....that was the first thing I checked when it happened.

I suspect that it might be one of the fronts locking in instead of the rear unlocking and re locking since that would cause the situation your are describing and is much more likely with several things being able to cause it like contaminated or low fluid or water ingestion or broken cage or worn bearings, etc.

The rear won't unlock until the stress is taken off of it and for it to pull to one side when it releases it would have had to be stressed. It is also more likely to pull to one side when it is locked than when unlocked. That is the reason I asked about tire height since there are differences in height even when they are stamped as the same size. I have seen as much as 3/8" difference in stock tires even when inflated to the same presure.

Just swap your rear tires and see if it jerks the other way. That would tell you if there was a tire size difference. I haven't heard mine lock in at those speeds, but if it does, it doesn't jerk. You could also jack it up and measure the circumference with a cloth tape or a piece of string. Tires can come brand new and be different diameters. A busted belt in the tire carcass can also make the tire "grow".

I took it for a spin today and it did not do it, not sure where to go from here. I would much rather shell the diff and know what to fix than troubleshoot a glitch trying to keep it from shelling!!!

If it is the locking dog or shifting fork it would be a major operation to replace, meaning split the transmission case. These transmissions are kind of finicky in that they sometimes don't go into gear all the way and then grind when you take off so this might be just one more of those quirks. I have read on the RZR forums (I think that is where it was) that some people change out the transmission oil to something different and the problem goes away. I am going to switch mine at the next change to Amsoil hydraulic transmission oil.

If the problem is in the front you will probably find out soon what it is.
