If I seat the Allen nut on the caliper, then back it out 1/2 turn there is way to much drag on the hub. So I keep backing it out until the drag is gone but is this ok to do?

Mr, half a turn will normally get it done . How far do you need to go to lose all drag ? Did you just install new pads ? I always clean & grease the slides when I have the calipers off.

Yup, brand new pads and I cleaned and greased the slides. I'm guessing 1 1/2 turns or so.

I see no problem Mr. with 1-1/2 turns although I would check em after you get a few miles on the new pads ..
