I've read all the threads on ticking noise but this seems different.

The adjacent property has a huge beaver dam holding water on my place. So I'm forced to go through some pretty deep water. I have a 3" lift and 30's and have no issues until recently. The water will be approx 2-3" in the floorboard. Never got a wet belt or in the intake. Now I ride approx 2 miles back to my property and the water is all the way in the back. So about 1.75 miles the engine runs like a top. No power loss, very responsive, like its supoose to. 2 days ago is when I noticed it 1st. When I hit the water, I would ride in the water a ways and I would hear a tocking noise. But its not coming from under the seat at least I dont think so. It sounded like a stick caught in the radiator fan. However it does click faster with the revving of the engine.

When i exited the water, i put in neutral, hit the gas and sure enough, clicks with engine rev. Last night, while it's still on my trailer, I started it, all was fine. Clicking was gone.

Decided to come hunt today. Rode back the 2 miles, no clicking, hit the water again, 2-3" in floorboard, clicking started and continued when I exited the water just like last time. The engine definitely comes up to temp during the ride back because I can hear the radiator fan kick on so it's not a warning up thing, as least I dont think so. It's something with the water.

Is there something I can check or have you guys run across anything like this before? I would think if it's a lifter or something, it would do it all the time, or even when its warmed up. But whe. I hit the water, it starts doing it.

what shape is your seal for the clutch cover. Have you removed the cover to make sure no water was indeed getting to your clutches?

Shut hunting down for the year. 1 weekend left. I changed all the oils. Motor, front and rear diff. the oil level in motor was low, like barely on the stick. I mean I just went test drive when you posted. All is good now.

I had a ticking issue on my 06 500 that had me looking. As it turns out my belt had lost 4 teeth and was causing the ticking as it rolled around the secondary clutch. Have you checked your belt?

Low oil was issue. Runs like new after fluid change
Keep an eye on that oil level because yours is burning it.

I just had one picked up with the same issue but it came in locked up. Had about 4 ounces in it. It only had 450 hours and was a 2010 but had a defect from the factory. Where the restrictor plate mates with the cylinder head the gasket was allowing dirt to get by. Owner never knew it and didn't check oil level on a regular basis.
