Hello,
I have a 2013 Ranger 400 Midsize (my first Ranger) that is pushing a lot (if not all) oil up through the breather tube into air intake box.. I purchased this at auction and it seemed to be running ok, no smoking, decent idle etc, I went to do an oil change and there was zero oil in the reservoir (per the manual it says to drain oil there) so I changed the oil filter and breather filter and added new oil to reservoir and finished up. I ran it a short distance and all seemed fine until while idling it died. After quite some time I finally got it started and limped back to the garage and the engine wouldn't fire after that. Had spark, and fuel so I was stumped. Ultimately I found the large diameter air intake tube had so much oil in it the engine couldn't draw any air in. I replaced rings and piston gaskets etc cylinder bore was within spec's,. Leakdown test shows about 3% loss at TDC after ring job. I drained the oil this time via the crank case drain plug and replaced the oil. ran for a short while and died again. I found the breather tube pushing oil again. At this point I am totally stumped and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

Someone with have a link for the service manual on here. If i remember correctly there is a oil bleed procedure that needs to be followed at oil change.

The screws come loose on the oil pump screen and get sucked into oil pump then the oil can't be pumped out of the engine. It is then pushed out breather.
