Looking to buy either a new mid size 570 or a used 800. The question is which is better? Any inherent problems with the 800's. I would be looking for a max 2 year old 800.
I believe the 800 was model that had the "hot" seat a few years back, but I don't know for certain as I've never owned one. I do own a 2015 Midsize 570 Crew EPS and it's a beast. I guess it depends on what you are going to use it for in the end, but as far as I'm concerned, the 570 Midsize is the perfect combo of power, torque, maneuverability, fuel economy, and smooth ride. I live at 8600' feet in the mountains and plow my driveway that has a 600' rise in less than 1/4 mile without an issue.

I have a Ranger 800 Midsize and the heat issue is true in the south west. I fixed mine by insulating the seat adding a bilge blower, wrapped the exhaust system with exhaust wrap from O Riley's auto parts. Cool as a cucumber now. When I run with my friends in the mountains that have 570's they always lag behind. Love the bottom end torque.

i have the "Hey your passenger is on fire" model 800..LOL yes they're hot. Its the nature of the beast. Lots of ways to remedy the issue, but only TRUE way to really fix the PROBLEM is get a Fuel Commander and stop the lean issues. Hell, it helps ALL the models, not just the 800.

I have owned a Full size 800 and now a Midsize 570. The only reason I sold my 800 was the need/desire for a crew. I did enjoy the 800, the twin cylinder, etc., and was quite pleased with the unit. I like others did manage through the “hot seat” issue. I’m that guy to go new vs. used when given the chance. Given the strong reviews/comments on the 570, then that decision would be easy unless I could get a great deal on a Polaris Ranger 800. Regardless of choice, do post a picture :)

I currently own a 2014 800 full size EPS LE. I have never had an issue with the hot seat. I love the power the 800 has. Land vehicle Vehicle Automotive tire Off-roading Natural environment

I say it's Old School vs. New School. When I went looking for a new Ranger last year I drove all of them including the 800 which the dealer had several to choose from at the time. All had some pretty big rebates on them and the 800's had the biggest as they were going away and 2014 was there last year of production in the Ranger line, don't know about the other models. I thought the 800's were pretty much like a thrashing machine compared to the new 570 and 900 models, I'm glad I drove the different models and made my decision from there, you should do the same.

I haven't ever had the "Hot" seat issue with my ranger. I can tell it's warm but it's no worse than sitting on a 4-wheeler. My 800 has been trouble free so far I love the way the 800 revs and the power it has in the small ranger. It is very impressive I know the numbers show only a 6hp difference but seat of the pants feel the 800 is way more powerful. I know the 800 vibrates much more than the 570 at idle but the 800 is much quieter throughout the rpm range. I have drove both a 570 midsize and full size, while the 570 has plenty of power for the machine I am still glad I got an 800 before the discontinued them.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Both have their plus and minuses - I have an FS 800 with no hot seat problems and its unstoppable but a tad larger than the 570 Mid with a little more ground clearance. I'd be happy with either one. One thing to consider - with a used (anything), there is always the possibility that your buying someone else's problems. On the other hand, 800's are going for next to nothing!

Thanks to all that replied. I'm going to use it for hunting and getting around 650 acres. Hauling a trailer of wood etc. I like new also, not someone else's problem. Also you don't know really how it was treated. I think the mid size is a little more maneuverable in tight spaces. but the payloads on the full size is a bonus. Plus I don't know how I feel about the 570 single cylinder vs the dual. I would think from old racing experience that the dual will give more even power with less vibration and noise.s I'll let you all know what I purchase.

We've had the MS 500 and the FS 800, I would go for the FS machine unless there's a specific need for the smaller footprint. We loved both our MS Rangers and they were basically trouble free, but we like the FS more. More power, more suspension and more ground clearance. I always thought my MS 500 was comfortable and rode great, but the FS 800 is noticeably better.

I don't know if there's any left, but new 2014 FS 800's were selling really cheap a few months ago.

The full size 570 has a $1000 rebate right now. Drops the price to $10299 before any deals from the stealer.
Yes and after that with Roof and front window I got a FS 570 for 9100. When I went an looked at the 800 Mid size it wasn't as pristine as owner said. Plus they had 2 sons about 14 and 17. That was the deciding factor.

An additional savings for me was through membership in Illinois Farm Bureau, see ilfb.org - Benefit Your Farm with Polaris Off-Road Vehicles and think you need to be a member for 30 days to qualify, but you can need to check.
