We usually hear new models in July. Polaris is the master at keeping new models a secret until they are unveiled. Anything you hear will be just a rumour, no matter what someones dealers told them. The problem with a crossover is it will take sales from both the sport and utility sides.

Polaris is usualy searching for niches or usualy creating a niche in the market, this is the only area they don't have covered yet and i think an up and comming catagory, i know the have the ranger delux wich might be my next machine but would like to see something a little more compact, a little more suspesion and clearance, and some innovativ storage and something with killer looks if anyone can do it it's POLARIS!!!!

I have been asking for this type of crossover type for a while myself and I thought Yamaha was going to fill the gap with the Wolverine, at least they said they were but they blew it again.

It has good suspension and shocks but that is about it. Single cylinder 47 horsepower, no tilt wheel, no seat slider, no tilt bed, no swing tail gate, no turf mode, cheap 2 ply tires, cheap look, but they got the price right up there. I can buy a 900XP with all that stuff on it cheaper than I can buy the Yamaha. A dealer close to me sells both.

Rock i don't mean to offend anyone that inspires to the new yamaha wolverine, but after a short testride i was totaly diapointed' if this is what yamaha worked on for years they need some new rnd people. This machine is not even close to ranger 900xp in my opinion in any catagory except for maybe blasting through the woops or something, it just felt very unrefined compared to the smoothness of the ranger in any way!!!

If they would take the 900XP chassis and put some GOOD adjustable shocks on it and spring the rear for a 500 pound bed load like the mid size, then put a good full length full width skid plate, then put the mid size cab and bed on it they would have a winner in my opinion.

I was thinking the Wolverine would be something like that, and it is kinda like that in an abstract way but the Polaris 900 just has the comfort and power and smoothness and quietness sewed up I guess. Why Yamaha didn't step up and build something to compete I will never understand. Yamaha also wasted a lot of usable space by putting that full length console in there. I like to be able use that open floorboard.
Some people say look at the Commander, but the wheelbase is just too short on the Commander for good stability. If they had moved the rear tires back about 4 or 5 inches they would have more appeal to me.
At this stage it is not worth trading my little 800 mid size for anything that is out there now. It's small size and surprising stability and capability are good enough until someone builds the right one.

The 68 horsepower in the 900 is fine for me. We average around 5-6 mph overall on the trails around here and hardly ever go over 20. Good low end acceleration is what we need with a 55-60 top for the occasional long smooth stretch.

Hunterworks bought a Wolverine and I guess peoples needs are different but I really like it. My son likes it, we normally don't keep the utv's we buy just use them for what we need to for business, sell at a loss and move on to the next. We might keep the wolverine to hunt out of.

I really liked the Ranger 900 too, but sold it. I say I am going to keep them but really at the end of the day this is a business and you can't keep them all

Just not sure what we gonna do about this wolverine, really need a new hunting machine and the price was right.

Maybe I will start buying them in spring, keep to next spring use whatever it is for hunting then keep it going that way. Who knows but really like the wolverine!!

I am sure I would like the suspension on the Wolverine.

But if Polaris upgrades a Ranger model to match the suspension there is nothing I would like better on the Yamaha. Just sitting in it is uncomfortable to me. The console on the right hits my leg and the door on the left digs into my knee right on the bone and the steering wheel is too high.

My local dealer has 900XP EPS Rangers for $10,849 OTD. Don't see giving what they want for a Wolverine. The name Yamaha isn't worth that much to me.

But I am glad you like yours.

I tried out the Viking before I bought my 900...that single cyl engine right behind the cab was LOUD....really loud. If the wolverine is the same as the Viking , I can't imagine liking it. Wear your ear plugs Todd. You'll need'um.
