AZ, can you check the fuel pressure ?

Errrrr Josh, 44 psi is .......way low for a 1000... maybe better look at the filter or the pressure regulator.

At least you have found the problem.

I can. If the regulator or filter is bad, you would logically get the same PSI from both (good) pumps.

"I just can't see both pumps putting out the same. "

The correct idle for an XP1000 is 1200 +/- 100 rpm. If it's idling at 2500 something is wrong.
Yeah, I saw that and said........I am going to let Robbie handle this one...;)

Well got hands on new fuel pump for next to nothing. Quick install and same thing. Starts quick then dies immediately. 44 psi both pumps. If I play it like a carb it will stay running. Then every start after it idle perfect 1300rpms.
Wouldn't low compression make it run sluggish and low power? It has neither. ?
Josh, low compression will make starting hard but once started will run pretty normal . You didn't mention any oil usage but a compression test is now called for.

150 pounds would be nice . Each cylinder within 10 % of the other.. Both plugs out..wide open throttle .. same number of revolutions per cylinder ..
