I am new to the forum and about to purchase a new 900 crew. I've got big plans for it to include a decent size lift, wheels/tires, clutch, stereo, amongst other things. I'm trying to finalize all my plans so I can order everything as soon as I get it. Right now I'm between a Catvos 6" lift or an Outkast 5". By biggest question mark is which tires to get. I've narrowed it down to 31" outlaw skinny's or 33" terms. I've read a lot of forums on this topic, but still can't decide. Seems people are satisfied with both. I like the fact the outlaws are MUCH lighter and the rotational mass is smaller, however I like the fact the terms seem to ride better and the additional ground clearance. Any input is appreciated.

I'm not too crazy when I ride (currently running a 05 Rincon with BRGR and 28" zillas). I am looking for something to load up a cooler with my family and friends and run around. I live in Central Florida and I ride where there is a lot of deep water and sandy/dirt trails. I know the lift and tires upgrade will eventually cause some issues with the axles and stuff, but I also know a lot of that depends on the driver. I would like to maintain a little reliability (if that's possible). I spoke with catvos and they said they have been running their 6" lift with 32" tires on a Ranger and have put over 1200 miles on it with no issues, so that's promising. Sorry for the novel just wanted to give everyone as much info as possible to make an informative response.

Thanks guys,

If yiu are not a pure mudder terms will be fine. To me in my opinion terms are just an aggressive all terrain tire. If you want a tire that flat pulls, get the 31s, mine are amazing

Don't get me wrong Rancher, I do get adventurous at times....especially as the cooler get lighter and lighter, haha. So I want something that will pull me through that nasty hole every once in a while. That's a good looking Ranger Rut Nut! What lift are you running? I thought about the Boggers, but they have some weight to them. I'm not sure the TSL's are aggressive enough for my taste, but your bike looks damn good tho!

Running a 3 inch BA lift on the Ranger and I've got about 1500 miles on these tires so far. I went this route after having 30 in Mudlite XXL last year on my Teryx that where shot with the same mileage and it road like a tractor. I can tell you with the bigger tires that your wanting to go with you'll have to keep a eye on A arm bushings wear. I just replaced all my wheel bearings and also put on Super Dave bushings.

Can't go wrong with Outlaw's down here... That pic is with 31" OG Outlaws, but I am running 29.5" OL2's now.

I love how everyone recommends whatever they are running rather than actually giving advice on what would work best for the author.

Actually, I live very close by, and we probably ride in the same places... I said you can't go wrong with Outlaws down here... so that was my advise. You jump on everyone else's back, but you chimed in with absolutely NOTHING to offer... smh

Actually Clayton if you knew the first thing then maybe it's cause I've damn near ran every tire out for mud. Terms are by far a mud tire. If you want a pure mud tire I'll vote outlaws all day and for and all terrain tire, which is what I consider a term, I'll say all day 30" outlaw radials will out pull them all day lomg.

If your not going to hardcore mud it I wouldn't get a dedicated mud tire. They ride rougher than I like. I'd go with something like outlaw radials. If you want your machine to be dependable I wouldn't go with any big lift. Even taking it easy you will tear some things up. Personally I won't go higher than 2" of lift and use forward a arms to run a 30" tire.

I agree... the bigger / more aggressive you go, the more breakage... But, I will say that I am in love my set-up right now... knock on wood, I haven't broke anything since going to Rhino's on the rear. 3" Outkast full arched lift & 29.5 OL2's... & we ride ALOT of mud/sugar sand/& deep water.

That's because unlike the majority of posters in threads about tires I'm not under the illusion that the tire I'm using is the best tire in the universe, therefore I had nothing to offer to the author. Bad advise is worse than no advice. zfg

I appreciate everyone's input. I am considering doing an outkast 3" with rad outlaws. Gotta get my house done first before I pull the trigger on my toy, so I have a little bit of time to make my decision. Everyone's opinion is appreciated and I'll keep checking back for more! Thanks again!
