800 engine reassembly question

805 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  commanderjjones
ran my 800 out of oil and am in the process of rebuilding. I am wondering what gasket maker does everyone reccomend to use when putting the cases back together? Also doe everyone heat up the crank sprocket like the manual says? Does this make getting the sprocket on easier or something thanks.

I use yamabond for sealing the case halves. All other gaskets are Polaris. If the sprocket won't go on you may need to heat it up.
Is there a certain yamabond to use? From what I've read number 4 is what I need

That is what I use and you will have to prime the oil pump with oil and a tube. Look in service manual.
I use Permatex grey or black RTV. I've rebuilt several engines and trannys, and (knock on wood) never had one leak.
