Hey guys, for those who're interested Amsoil just came out with their new line of ATV/UTV oils. They used to just have the 0w-40 for the rangers, but now they've come out with a 10w-40, and a 5w-50. Not to mention a new Chaincase/gear oil.

Looks like they're really starting to tailor their oils at more brand specific markets, which is good, because I just ordered a case of 20w-50 motorcycle oil the other day for added protection going into summer. Now I shouldn't need to if they've got a 5w-50 all season oil.

Thought you guys would want to know.!

Just my luck. I just received a shipment from them for my trans and front diff on your recommendation Adam. I got enough of the tractor hydraulic and transmission lube for about 5 changes, but if this stuff is as good for my transmission as it has been for yours I don't need the newer stuff.

I think I will be fine.

You'll be good to go. I don't think there was anything wrong with their old formulation, but I think they're trying harder to cater to brand specific markets. Hense the 5w-50 oil for the polaris engine.

As far as transmissions go, either hydraulic or chaincase oil will do the job.

They also have new LOOKUP GUIDES as well.

AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Powersports 0W-40 formulation has not changed and is recommended in all temperatures for ATVs and UTVs. Those satisfied using AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Powersports 0W-40 you can continue to use it. The new formulas were made to meet the specific manufactures’ viscosity requirements, making it easier for customers to accept rather than being convinced to use AFF 0W-40.

AMSOIL ATV/UTV 5W-50 Engine oil is specialized for consumers who own a Polaris Ranger, Razor, Sportsman or any other ATV or UTV calling for 5W-50 engine oil. It is also recommended in place of Polaris® Extreme Duty 10W-50 engine oil for ATVs and UTVs.

I have some faqs, pm me for more info.....

How do the prices listed compare to what the dealers are charging for the Polaris fluids?

if you've got the preferred customer pricing which costs around $20 per year, I'd say you'd be saving around $3-$4 per quart, depending on what you're dealer is charging. The real savings for me on my oil changes is buying the wix filters through amsoil when I put my orders in. I'm getting filters for half the price of polaris units, and have had zero issues with WIX.

I used WIX filters on my previous truck (an '04 Chev K2500HD). GM or AC Delco superceded the OEM beer can sized oil filter w/ 1 about the size of a baby food jar. WIX had an equivalent filter to the filter that came on my truck from the factory. No issues either w/ the filters.

I've used the Amsoil products in my Ranger ever since the first oil change and also order the wix filters from them as well. I pay the $20 preferred customer membership because I buy oil/filters for my diesel pickups from them as well. Its saved me money over the last few years. $6.60 for the filter, $8.50/qt for the OW-40 ($8.95 for the new 5W-50), plus a lil shipping to my door is well worth the piece of mind my ranger is getting some of the best oil available.

The Chaincase oil will work and what the preferred lube to use in the past but this gear lube was recently introduced and might be a better choice. Synthetic ATV/UTV Transmission & Differential Fluid

Will it stop gear noise, only trying will tell. Most gear whine is due to the way the gears are cut.

Helical cut vs straight? I'm pretty sure gears that are helical cut are quiter.

Helical gears will be less noisy than strait cut gears. to my knowledge, the gears were all strait cut until polaris went to their combined "transaxel" style transmission.

I worked on an 07 ranger for a friend the other day. I forgot just how much nosier they are than the newer stuff. it's night and day.

amsoil gear oil might help, some. what might help more is overfilling the transmission. try tipping the rear of the ranger up as far as you can with a jack so you can get more oil in the fill plug. 2-2.5 quarts would be great if you can get it in there. It will puke some of the oil out of the breather on long hard runs, but won't hurt anything.

Canadian Price Adjustment June 1Posted: April 10, 2015 - Announcement

The Canadian dollar has demonstrated some stability at its current exchange rate with the U.S. dollar. While AMSOIL has refrained from adjusting Canadian prices for as long as possible, the significant change in the exchange rate combined with increased raw-material costs have forced AMSOIL to implement a price increase in Canada effective June 1. The increase is expected to be in the 8-12 percent range.

Every effort will be made to keep the price adjustment as low as possible. Significant changes in the exchange rate or raw-material costs in the coming weeks will affect the percentage of the pricing change, so alert your customers now about the pending increase. New prices will be available in early May.
I don't see on their website any Canadian pricing. I don't know if there is much of a savings for Canucks buying the Amsoil 5W50 ($13.40 US) vs Castrol Edge ($12.47 CDN @ WallyMart). The US dollar is a 21% premium.

To see Canadian Pricing you have to create an account and when the system knows you are in Canada it will display applicable pricing. You can create an account but that does obligate you to make a purchase.

I can quote you the pricing if you would like but you will have to PM me for that information.
