I have a 2007 500 ranger and it striped some teeth off the counter weight , I cant find a reason for the issue the oil pump drive gear is a little worn but the oil pump turns freely I have worked on engines and have been a machinist for 41 years so I know something about how and why things work and know that sometime you just have a part that fails, if you have any ideas for a cause please let me know, also what would be the best thing to do to increase performance??

Not sure about the '07 (which has EFI), but on the older carb'd units, the easiest thing to do to increase power is to add the cam and carb from a Sportsman 500 H.O..

I assume the cam will still help, but not sure how you'd go about getting the extra fuel. I know a few companies offered fuel controllers for the 700 engine, but I've never really seen any for the 500. You might call Dale at Dirty Dawg Performance and ask if he has a solution.
