Are the Ranger 800 shocks rebuildable or can they at least be taken apart and the fluid changed? The fluid in all four of my rear shocks sounds terrible. If they can be dissassembled I'll buy the stuff neccessary to service the fluid.

I'm thinking not since the parts diagram just shows the complete shock. New stock ones are not that expensive, $120 each.

you can thread off the top eyelet and put your own homemade bumpstop in if the factory one is shot, but other than that they're a disposable item.

Kinda like rebuilding toilet paper...works 'ok' the first time but nothing you do to it will ever make it worth trying to use again

There are several companies that do shock rebuilding on some of the higher end RZR shocks but don't know if they'll fool with Ranger shocks. I think Will Reed had some shock work (RZR) done a while back - maybe he'll chime in if he sees this...

When I took my springs off to swap to my Highlifter springs all my shocks and the spare set I have sound like there is water in them when you turn them upside down.

I have four rear shocks, so I'd rather buy shock tools than new shocks. Maybe I'll get a junk one and try taking it apart myself.

Yeah, those are basically disposable. I'd look into aftermarket options before spending money on stock replacements.

Given all the upgrades individuals do one their units, I bet you can find nearly new shocks here on PRC.
