I just started getting the loud click while my ranger 800 xp is in turn mode and I turn the key on. Interestingly the check engine indicator is coming on but in diagnostics mode I do not get an error code.

I have tried to locate other threads on this issue - especially links to demonstrate replacement. I am assuming the soleinoid is ok but the coil is bad?

Any guidance / help would be appreciated.

It is supposed to click when you turn the key on. The system defaults to a locked rear diff' when the machine is turned off (so your parking brakes functions on both wheels), then unlocks when you turn the key on with the switch in turf mode.

Thanks Jerry. But the 'click' is more like a loud snap and my check engine comes on. It has never been this noticably loud before.

No, both tires are locked in even when the switch is all the way down (turf mode). Probably why the check engine is on.
