Is it normal to have to compress the hell out of my shocks just to get them to slip into the BA A-arms, it doesn't look right to me, it seems like if I did that the A- arms would be smashed into the frame when there is no weight on the front

I'm sure it depends on how much lift your are using or have "built in", but if your compressing your shock or standing on your suspension arm trying to get that bolt in...your shock is going to stress your suspension components every time your tires get light. In addition you might get some CV joint binding. You either need less lift or some limiter straps or be prepared to live with accelerated suspension component wear. I know from experience that a 2" lift works just fine. Seems like anything over would require shock compression.
