No it will not stretch.

 

Mine too. I will be adding small bolts with washers in the critical areas to keep the Velcro from coming apart. My biggest problem was the door coming open at 40 mph. I took the door handle apart and modified the part so the shaft would go forward more to fully engage the bar opening. I have twice the engagement now.

 

I emailed Polaris about the issue and I'll report back when I hear from them.

When I bought my 2009 and had all the heat issues, their response when I called them was only to hear this: "You're dealer knows best". They are not going to come out and tell you they have a problem. I suspect most of the other Mfgs. are the same in that regard! My dealer didn't have a clue how to deal with it. I ended up fixing it myself over time trying every thing I could to stop the cab heat issue. Polaris offered no help or warranty coverage what so ever.

I am buying a 2013 900 XP LE with the canvas doors so I will be following this post on how you all deal with it. PRC members have been an excellent resource for learning how others deal with product issues.

 

Well Polaris gave me the stock BS answer of check with your dealer because they know best.

I replied back to them that many people are having the issue and it seems like a design flaw which my dealer can't fix.

I'm sure I'll get nothing of any value back.

Just like the heat issues a bunch of us complained about in 2009. That is their canned speech! "Your Dealer knows best" It will be us in the field that will come up with a fix. When the competition gets stiffer they might listen to the people that buy their stuff. Right now they are riding high and see no need to address anything we complain about to them.

Is this problem something that can be owner fixed, though i know it should't have to be, i would like to have these on my future 900!

 

Hi new here, I've had my 900 for about a month and was considering these canvas doors. I do like how they dont hang out to be scratched or hit on trees and stuff like the hard doors and being lightweight and easy to remove is a big plus for me. Can someone post a pic of the velcro showing the problem areas? Could a snap button be added like what would be on a boat canvas top?

Sorry no pics but mine comes apart on the bottom half of the door. :evil: I will give the snap button idea a try once cold weather subsides, then i can take the doors off and have plenty of time to fix them right.

 

I don't understand why they even use velcro on the doors, looks like it could be sewn around the frame. Because I'm sure you can't buy a replacement canvas you would have to buy the whole set of doors.

 

No doubt a cost issue! Velcro works fine if they take into consideration that Canvas shrinks a bit, especially after getting wet and then drying out. It is all about the bottom line and not what happens after the fact.

 

They used velcro so you can replace them if need be. The replacement skin which includes the window is around $60. This is one reason I got them.

Well that makes sense then. I didn't know you could buy the canvas, I've tried to buy a single door in the past and couldn't. Thanks for the info work n play, it will be nice to replace them when the window gets so scratched up.
