There are many options and for someone that is not very good with clutching on these things, I need some help. I have been searching and reading on here but no one is really telling me the differences.

I see everything form an EPI, Dalton, dirty dawg and a few more names thrown out there. Looks like you can get away for a couple hundred bucks from EPI or over a grand from dirty dawg. Dirty dawgs website unfortunately doesn't give any details at all on his clutch kits, that I saw.

So what am I getting if I spend more and step up to some of these more expensive ones? I saw a mention on an EPI thread that the EPI kit will not help the shift engagement that we have common issues with, so will some of the other kits?

I am running a 900xp with 30" tires. Top speed is not of concern to me, I rarely travel over 25-30, and even then it is not actually needed. I run in low a lot now and will still continue to do after a clutch kit, but now Hi is almost not usable without feeling of stressing the belt. I only use hi when traveling on hardpack level roads.

Thanks for the help.

If your running 30" tall tires I'd recommend one of the better clutch kits, such as DDPs secondary with new springs and weights for the primary. Its been a while since I bought one but I believe that kit is around $600.00 . It will smooth out engagement, improve your low end power, and improve belt life. High will be much more useable. The best thing you can do is call Dale, he is very helpful in setting you up with what you need.

I know talking to him would help me with his clutch kit. But I am trying to see some reviews of other brands before talking to any manufacturer. I like to have some research and knowledge before talking to them.

Thanks!

I was in the same boat. I didn't really know anything about the PVT clutch systems on these.
After doing quite a bit of research, and talking with guys that have run several different clutch setups, I came to the conclusion that most clutch kits are going to be pretty dang similar. Unless you're talking about completely new custom primaries and secondaries (such as a Duraclutch). Most places will customize the springs and weights to your machine and riding style. I talked with Dale at DDP a couple times before finally deciding on them. He was very helpful and seemed extremely knowledgeable. I told him my machine has factory EBS and that I have 30" tires. He asked me what kind of riding I like to do and some other details about my machine. Not once did I get that sleazy salesman impression. In fact, I told him I was looking hard at their Ultimate Clutch Kit, and he told me that my factory EBS secondary is a better setup than the standard secondaries and that I would only really need a standard clutch kit with some springs and weights. I gave him every opportunity to try to sell me their Ultimate Clutch Package. He said he would definitely sell it to me, but he didn't think I would notice a big enough difference between it and the standard clutch kit (springs and weights) to justify the extra cost. I appreciate that kind of thing.
I also told him I'd like to tone down the factory EBS a little bit. He sent me a new less extreme helix as well that shouldn't toss me through the windshield when I let off the gas.
For $480 shipped to my door, I got the clutch kit, a new helix, a heavier duty spider (not required, just an upgrade to the factory one), and a clutch puller. I'll be installing the kit on Friday, and will post my results after installing it.

Keep in mind the XP Browning edition has a different secondary clutch. Team Rapid Reaction vs the Inverted Boss style with integral helix which is a POS, why on earth Polaris switched is beyond me.

The non-EBS secondary will have poor engagement. You can up a new secondary with helix and spring for about $380.
