Can't find it anymore, but a while back a post was up that explained how to use a solonoid to activate an accessory panel without putting the entire load on the accessory wire from the ECU. Toymvr even posted a schematic which I printed and saved. Now I'm looking for a proper solonoid and need a part number or a rating or something to go buy so I get the right one. Anyone have a part number or rating info I can use ?
Thanks !

like this
Code:
              ignition
              or 12 constant
               |
               |
Battery--->Solenoid--->accessory
               |
               |
              Switch
               |
               |
              Ground
Personally i like to use a switched ground so I'm not bringing extra live wires through firewalls and thereby increasing the chance of a catastrophic failure.

Exactly RZR rider. I'm ready to redo my accessory fuse block and need a part number or a rating or something I can use to be sure I get the correct type of solonoid.

As I understand it, a std starter type relay will burn up after a while since it is not a 'continuous duty' type reply/solonoid/contactor. I'm trying to figure out how to make sure I get one rated for continuous duty. I don't trust the folks behind the counter, and if I can get something specific from PRC it would help. Thanks !

Constant duty solonoids are used all the time on plow set ups for plow trucks, just ask at a auto supply place and they should have one.

What's a plow truck ? [:D]
The parts houses around here don't carry many parts related to snow removal. High water maybe, snow removal, not so much.

I live in the "Bayou City". Houston, if you have ever seen us on the news for our wethere, it was flooding, not snow. What we do around here when we do get some snow (1/4 inch is all it takes) is act like bunch of fools and completly shut down the highways with 100's of wrecks cause we don't have a clue how to drive in that stuff, but we still go out and drive anyway.

You are correct....
Go to you local RV dealer, parts / service deptment, they have lots of them.
I got mine at a place called Camping World.

The 2000# Warn winch idea was a good one too.
