I have a 2007 500 Ranger with EFI.. I am tired of the electrical issues not allowing a decent idling and running Polaris Ranger. Am I crazy to consider converting to carburetor to simplify my life and my motor? Does anyone have experience with this? Did you use the Mikuni carb or try another?

I am not familiar at all with the 500s, however, if the ECU controls ignition timing along with EFI as so many vehicles to I wonder if such a swap is even possible unless you can somehow program the ignition timing to work with a carb so that advance/retard parameters are preset and not dependent upon throttle position or fuel air ratio. As I say I know nothing about 500s so perhaps the EFI and ignition on those engines are totally independent of each other.

Maybe be better using a fuel controller, they cost about $200 to $400. I used one on my 2010 800 and i felt very positive about the change it made in the machine
