Copying a topic from old to new forum?

2209 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Flagman
To copy a topic from the old forum to this new one do you click on the topic in the old forum and when it opens just copy it all. Then make a new topic heading on the new forum and paste every thing? Is that the right way to do it? I'm not real computer savy![?] I would like to move some of the info from the old forum over to this new one. Thanks for help in doing this.

Greg,

The best way is to click the edit function and then hold down the left mouse button while dragging the cursor and highlight the message body. Then do a copy, the keyboard shortcut for this command is CTRL (control button) and then the "C" key depressed. That will copy a message to what is called the "clipboard" and then come to this new site and hit the new post button. Then, make a new title and tab down to where you would start typing. Then do a paste command, keyboard shortcut is CTRL and then the "V" key.

The only disadvantage to this is that you can only do your posts. I am not sure how it would work if you tried it without clicking on Edit first. I do know the pictures won't transfer without doing an Edit. Hope that helps.
For posts without photos you can just highlight the post without hitting edit, next copy it and then open a post in the new forum and paste it in.
Thanks guys, I kind of had the idea of how to do it, but I wasn't too sure about the photos. Thanks for steering me in the right direction on that.[:D]
