I have a 2021 Ranger 1000 XP. I recently re- installed the tracks. I kept the steering wheel straight while adjusting the toe and attack of angle, measurements are good and as the camso manual specified. Test drove, the steering wheel has some slack and about a half turn to the right while driving straight forward. I rolled back into the garage and double checked the measurements, and everything was still on. The test drive was fine with no binding or unusual noises other the half turn slack in the steering wheel. What did I do wrong? I did realize that it's better to go by the measurements in the manual then relying on the levels installed on the track frame, if I went by the levels it led to a ridicules angle of attack.

Did you put the tracks on cardboard when you adjusted the toe and angle of attack (maybe not as important for AOA)? If not and you were not aware thats a great way for all that rubber contact area to rotate more freely while the steering sector stays more stationary. Even if its on cardboard the wheel might have a tenancy to move some as the steering components are adjusted from my experience. You should be able to use some strategically placed ratchet straps around the wheel and to the brake pedal along with another strap in another direction to keep the wheel from moving much if any. Still the most helpful thing in my opinion is that cardboard. This method also works on wheels too of course much like the plates the front wheels are on when at an alignment rack.

I use plastic garbage bags doubled up to reduce friction, very slippery.

So, does that mean I have to take the tracks off and start all over again? or just leave it be until spring and adjust when I put the wheels back on ?

Id say if you don’t mind the wheel being off a bit leave it. When you go back to tires after the snow is gone align the front to the back with the string method or some other form then keep that steering wheel locked down best you can as the tie rods are adjusted. When i did that with my new wheels and tires my toe was within spec for the tracks and i didn’t need to tweak anything.

After I put the Tracks on I checked the the Toe and it was off. so before adjusting the Toe I called the Dealer and they said it was fine. the Ranger has always drove good with the Tracks on, no problems ever. and it's nice not having to readjust the Toe after putting the wheels back on. mainly use it for ice fishing, no hi speed driving or anything, hope this helps.

I'll go with that and wait till spring to correct it. Thanks to all that replied.
