Diff lock

What would cause my rear diff lock to lock in when the ranger is put into high range in any other range as low or reverse it unlocks

That's a weird problem. I can't think of a single reason that would happen.

Are you CERTAIN that the diff' is locking? Can you her the solenoid click when you put it in high?

If the battery is on it's way out, I'd replace that before bending over backwards to troubleshoot a possibly non-existent wiring issue. These machines will do weird (this type of) things with low voltage.
