Lurking on this form for a while and came across clschultz79 post on his door build.
I am also using 3/4” 14 gauge sq tubing. I will be skinning them with HDPE plastic sheeting.
I am also using bullet-style weld-on hinges and tractor-style door latches. Please excuse the messy shop.

Day 2 right side hinges are done, waiting for the door handles to arrive so I can figure out bracing through the center of the door.

Slot your holes in the hdpe. Or make them larger and use fender washers. It does expand and move with temperature changes.

My plan is to use 3M windshield adhesive to glue it to the box tubing. Thoughts?

That would be a hard no. The stuff is like Teflon and nothing sticks to it.

Polyethylene has a non-stick surface, which means most types of glue will not form a bond with the plastic. However, there are other ways of forming bonds on Polyethylene surfaces. The two best options for bonding Polyethylene are: Solvent Welding, Ultrasonic Welding or Infrared Welding.

RJ Thank you for the info. I will use screws to attach the HDPE sheeting to the box tubing. You saved me the frustration of finding out it would not work the hard way!!

Update #3, window frames and Lexan windows are done. I made the front window so it will slide back for some airflow.

The first gen must be an exception to that. I've locked myself out of my 1988 extended cab (manual locks) twice and the first time the kid they sent out had to get his boss out there to pop it and that still took over an hour and the second time they bent my door so badly from prying it that I sued them for a new one.

I would not be so mad if it was at least shipped, It was supposed to be delivered Friday and it has not even shipped yet.

Thanks for the info, I bought KX Automotive Universal D-Shape Door Seal 0.47" Height X 0.55" Width Weather Stripping EPDM Rubber Seal Strip Self Adhesive Car Truck Door if this does not work I will get what you recommend.
