Movement could be either one (bushing or bearing), but if it's making noise, chances are that it's the bearing......assuming it's not the CV. Dealer will probably charge 1 to 1.5 hours labor, plus the bearing. Guesstimate........probably $150 to $200. If they want more, I'd do it myself........scratch that, I'd do it myself to start with and not let them touch my machine. You'll know it's done right, won't get robbed, and will know more about your machine when you're done.

Yeah these things eat bearings so you need to go ahead and learn how to change them yourself.

like Jerry and Larry mentioned, could be the movement in the bushings you're seeing, or it could be in the hub. which could mean the bearing is bad, or the hub is worn, or both.

You mentioned that it clicks. I've never heard a bad wheel bearing click, but I've heard bad CV's do that. do you notice it doing it more when you turn right or left? if so, I'd bet it's a CV starting to get a little angry.

as for the wheel bearings, you can do them yourself, it requires a big hammer, a punch, or an air hammer. you'll need a good sized snap ring plier, a vice (most likely), lots of penetrating oil and patience.

good luck!

If it's a CV clicking, I'd run it. I've got one on the rear that's been clicking when under a load or taking certain turns for a couple years... still clicking along. If you change the bearings be sure and pop the inner races out and pack them full of grease. They do not come with enough and you'll be replacing them again in a few months. It's simple and all it takes is working one side out at a time with your thumbs.
