I just picked up my first Ranger, 2015 570 FS. Took it out last night for a couple of miles to start breaking it in. When I got back, I noticed the dump bed was really warm/hot over where the exhaust runs underneath it. Obviously there is going to be some heat absorbed due to the exhaust, but never having owned a Ranger before, I am not sure if this is normal heat or excessive. There is a heat shield under the box that is over the engine, but no sort of shield over the exhaust. Just looking for info... Thanks...

No heat shield? My 900 has a heat shield granted its covered in mud right now haha. Pretty normal to have quite a bit of heat on the cargo box. Gotta figure that engine is a couple hundred degree heater sitting under there with a exhaust that probably is if I had to guess somewhere around 600° as well.

Sure, will grab some pics tonight and port them. I know warm/hot is subjective, again, just never having owned one, was not familiar with the "normal" heat absorbed by the dump box..

Take the spark arrester out and see if it is blocked with fiberglass. Muffler was really hot. I had to do it twice on my .900. Ok now but I still check it a couple times a year.

So The wife and I went out today for a good ride and when we got home I felt the bed. It was only what I would call warm, however, it was only 52 degrees so I am sure that played a major part. I lifted the bed to look at the heat shield that is mounted to the inderside and like yours, it only covers the engine. In fact the exhaust pipe bends up very close to the bed but even the underside wasn't "hot". The exhaust does have heat shields as someone else mentioned. I will be keeping an eye on this area as it warms up.
