I am getting an error code 636 (crankshaft position sensor faulty)on my 2011 Ranger Crew 800. Will turn over but will not crank. On this post http://www.prcforum.com/forum/17-ranger-discussions/49789-check-engine-code-636-a.html, it says 560 ohms between Yellow and White and 0 ohms black to ground. I get the 560 ohms when I disconnect the sensor and test back to the sensor. But when checking for ground does the connector need to be plugged back in. Because I am getting the ground from the ECM at the connector but not from the connector back to the sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Motor turns over and tries to start but will not. Sometimes it will start and run for about 1 second and dies. But mostly starter is turning the motor over.

Not sure of the voltage but this should be the resistance:

Thanks I am getting the 560 ohms yellow to white and open black to ground towards sensor. On the connector to the ECU I am only getting 2.5 volts with key on. Seems like I should be getting 12V. Also .4 ohms to ground back to ECU

Per the wiring diagram It shows the sensor is a NPN transistor inside the magnet. I took my meter and set it to diode and got the .7v like I should yellow (base) to white (collector) but nothing yellow (base) to black (emitter). This also tells me I have an open common/ground.
