In Québec last month was very cold , engine start well , but now at idle the engine Knock the first minute it run , get up in RPM and sound ok , when motor was warm its all right ? 4000 miles on , oïl level was ok .

Run a 0W40 in winter time up there. My 900 ranger knocks with the 10W50 oil in it in the summertime when I first start it up after sitting a while.

I think its normal, mine has done it since day one. I started another one at the dealership and it sounded the same.

Mine does it more like a tick sound. 500 miles on mine.

I believe this is normal, takes a second to pump oil throughout the engine. Once circulated the noise stops, but always make sure your air filter is seated properly after service. I have heard of dust and dirt getting past and ruining the engine. Good luck

today temp. was warmer - 15 Celsius , idle is mutch louder , if I rev up at 1600 / 1800 rpm , run well nice and smooth sound , I think maybe it was the spark plug , 4000 miles on my XP , it could run on 1 or 1 1/2 cylinder when it start ? look like that
