In general, I'm not that guy who purchases extended warranties, but do have the opportunity to add it before the basic (6 mo) expires. As reference, I'm a modest rider and do not perform any of the following (take it swimming, deep mud riding, no heavy- loads or -pulling, etc.) and keep my unit extremely well maintenance both inside and out. With that said, I would like to hear opinions on investing/spending another grand for insurance. I do realize either way I pivot on this the oppose will likely happen :(

If you maintain your Ranger well and you don't punish it, I see no reason to purchase an extended warranty unless it is fairly cheap.
I guess the other factor is how many miles/hours do you currently have on your machine?
I was able to get an additional one year warranty free on mine when I purchased it, though it runs concurrent with the factory warranty so it's actually only an additional six months. The last factor is how well Polaris honors their warranty.

Bought one for my '11 800XP, never used it. Also bought one for the '13 900 RZR, haven't used it yet either. I'm a low mileage rider.

Depends on price IMO. When I purchased my Grizzly 550 new 4 extra years of warranty was $600. It has paid for itself in 4 years and 4,000 miles.

My last snowmobile was $800 for an additional 4 years. That also paid for itself.

My local Polaris dealer quoted me $1,100 for an additional 4 years. I think I would pass on it myself.

i personally Did not want or buy the warranty. At time of purchase, it was an aditional 1500 bucks.. Also..ive read WAY to many horror stories when dealign with warranty stuff to even imagine attempting to get soemthing done on warranty. Also, dealership is like 25 miles from here so thats a long haul.

Personally, id save the money, and keep it locked up untill you have issue, and then buy the parts yourself. Also, Consider full coverage insurance. Insurance will help with a lot of oddball issues that ya wouldnt imagine.

extended warranty

I got the extended warranty on my 2010 ranger 400 and glad I did it cost me $550.
But I had 3 ignition switches replaced ,
2 new steering racks because the boots deteriorated,
and the intake tube to the carberator deteriorated,
also 2 new struts because 1 started leaking
never had a problem with the warranty

I had 650 hours on it wen I traded it in for a 2015 570 ranger I use it mainly on the farm flat ground,

now I have to figure out if $1,000. for aftermarket extended warranty is worth it I think Polaris warranty is $1500 on the new rangers

Extended warranties are negotiable , after haggling for five mintes I got a three year { actually 30 months more } warranty for $500 , I don't understand how they all get away with calling them three year when the first six months is actually the manufacturers warranty .

I'm glad that I purchased the extended warranty. I've had a front diff', 2 front axles, an oil pan leak repaired, and a primary clutch bearing replaced under warranty. Those items would've cost me around $2500 including labor, so now $1000 for the 5 year warranty doesn't seem so bad......and I have 2 years remaining. Knowing that a catastrophic tranny or engine failure could cost upwards of $3k to $4k, I feel better knowing that I'm covered if the worst happens.

Bought extend warranty (5 years) on all 3 machines. We are in year 4 now of our warranty. So far on 3 machines, it has paid out somewhere in the neighborhood of $12,000-$15,000 in repairs and labor costs. with another $2000 bill that's pending currently.

They have denied some things, but overall have covered most things. sometimes not without a bit of a struggle.

I heard that the warranty issue would get better when polaris went in-house. So far, I've heard that the in-house warranty is just as bad as it was the Assurance. If I was buying a machine to trade off every couple years, I most likely wouldn't buy it. But, if you're in for the long haul, and put on more than 800 hours in your machines lifetime, you'll be money ahead to buy it. even with the denials. Just don't do something to guarantee they'll void your warranty. like putting on huge tires/ lifts and other stuff that will obviously put undue hardship on your machine.

Just got a 48 month for my 2015 Ranger 570 full size for 525 from fixmytoys.com. They sell the Polaris warranty for about half the price i was getting from Polaris mailer:

450.00 36 months
525.00 48 months
600.00 60 months

I was on the fence but these prices made it a no brainer for me.

So who is actually going to do the warranty work if you purchased it through fixmytoys?

Forde, thanks for the information and I will visit my dealer this week to learn more and report back. I want to avoid any potential downstream issues, assuming a future warranty claim were needed/requested.

Open up a passbook account at your local back and deposit $75.25 each month. In four years you'll have $3756. If you don't need major repairs, you keep the cash. Otherwise once the "warranty" expires, you have ziltch.

Excellent point, and it will cut into the beer funds :(

I contacted fixmytoys.com today to inquire about an extended warranty. I heard back from Jim and he told me that he had made a mistake when he quoted you those prices, but he agreed to honor his quote.

So for all of you that plan to call or email them expecting a Smokin' Deal, don't waste your time. However, if you'd like 25% off what other dealers are selling the warranties for, then they are the place to call. That deal may not be "Smokin'" but it's a lot better than what my local Polaris Dealer offers.
