Finally got the first ride on the RZR. I am very happy with the performance. The only issue I had was the seatbelt. I forded a creek where the seatbelt ratchet was submerged and then it would not retract. I was able to roll it up manually and then it was locked in place. When I got home, I unbolted it, sprayed with WD-40, to no avail. So, I pried the plastic covers off of the ratchet. That was not a good idea since the spring went flying. Long story short, I was able to put it back together so that I can adjust it manually and set it to my size. I will not retract or extend without manually releasing it. I do not want to wait on parts or repair under warranty. I am thinking of purchasing a four point harness for it, since I don't want another one ride only seatbelt. I hope no one else has this problem. If your belt does not retract and is locked, do not manually push it in, because then it will not unroll, and is unusable.

I hate to see that, but at least the rear bar is already in place on the factory cage for the 4 point harness!

Matt, do you carry the four point harness for it? If so, email me at [email protected] with the price.

Thanks,
Jamie

I have some 4 point harnesses, but I am not sure if they will work on the RZR or not. I will have to check.

Funny you mention the seat belt issue. We had a similar problem with our XP. We switched the driver with the passenger belts and somehow along the way fixed the broken one [)] Not sure how that worked but it did.

They are very sensitive to the angle that they are at. We ran into it when we were setting the first one up. The latch mechanism needs to be at almost a 90 degree angle with the floor.

I ran into a similar issue yesterday. Ran up the side of a hill to BS with some friends. When I got back into the RZR, the belt would not come out and had to be retracted manually. Well, I thought about it a minute, drove to the bottom of the hill (level ground) and gave it another try. Once on level ground, the belt worked fine.

SEATBELT UPDATE

After a couple of days, I gathered up my parts and paitence and was able to reassemble the drivers side seatbelt retractor. It does work fine right now. The passenger side did retract but would not release. I sprayed it with WD-40 and compressed air, until it started working. So, right now both seatbelts work fine.

After dissasembling the retractor, I can tell you that the cam with teeth that catches when you pull on the belt hard will not operate well with any grit in it. For anyone else having problems, try working it with compressed air and lubricant spray. If this does not work, unbolt the seatbelt at the retractor. Slide the outside cover up the belt. Then pry the larger of the two covers off of the retractor, this is very important, since the other side has the spring in it and trust me you don't want to rewind it. Behind this cover is the ratchet mechanism, you have spray it down or dissasemble it and clean it out. The ratchet side is not too difficult to work on.

I realize that my problem was self inflicted, and I in no means intended this to be used for RZR bashing. I am very happy with the machine. I just wanted to inform others of something that they might experience in similar situations. I know that many people will never ride their machine in this manner. But, that being said, my Rhino seatbelts were submerged many times and never locked up like this. That may be because the seatbelt retractors were much higher, hence farther from the tires churning up mud and grit. Or maybe because the Rhino did not have the power to spin the tires like this. [:D]

I submerged mine today along with hill climbing and jumping. My passenger belt won't extend now. I will try the WD-40 and spray with water and see if that works. I've already removed the assembly.

I took the water hose and really soaked the assembly while pulling the belt out plus sprayed it with WD-40. After about 5 minutes it works like new. Probably could have done it while on the vehicle.

We're down at Hatfield-McCoys in WV and our driver's side belt is currently locked up. I'm going to try fixing it tomorrow morning, but I only have a limited supply of tools. Plenty of WD-40 though. Maybe I'll spray it down tonight and see if that helps. We definitely don't want to be riding these hills without seatbelts!

Fixed already! WD40 did the trick. I took the seats out, peered down into the plastic cover, and saw that the mechanism was covered in dust and grit from the trail. After spraying it down with the WD40 and working the belt retractor a little, I was able to free it up.
