My 2010 800 hd has developed a flat spot in the throttle at 4500 to 4700 rpm. Could use some expertise on this, not sure where to start. Also just bought a new 2014 900 crew and I'm wondering if the wheels for my 800 will fit on the new machine.
Thanks Curt, The TPS is where I've been leaning but thought you guys would know better than I where to start chasing this one down. I will order one and see if it fixes the issue. As far as the wheels go, it kinda bums me out a little because I was hoping for swap ability and I've been trying to stay with 12''.
Accelerates up to 4500 then stays there as i depress the throttle pedal and will usually jump to just past 4700 then climb up ( I don't know if it will achieve full 6200 rpm because our roads have been terrible with black ice in spots and I'm not willing to crash over finding out if it will get full throttle ) however it will sustain rpm over 4800 but as I back off it falls to 4400 and I have massage the throttle back up to 4500 and wait for it to jump back up.
Yeah, I'm with Curt, it's most likely TPS sensor related in that case. Unless maybe your throttle blade is a little sticky and when you give it that little bit of extra gas it might be causing the throttle blade to "jump" instead of open more smoothly? I've seen these things gum up before, wouldn't surprise me if that could also be causing your problem.
Adam, Thanks for your input, had the throttle body off and checked the blade, it seems to be free so I'll go with the expensive fix unless the tps from a 800 Sprtsman will work?
Agreed it is most likely the TPS. I would check the base setting and airflow before I sent BennyBucks to Polaris though. If it is off just a skosh , it can cause that flat spot..
