For those who have a winch.

If you have mounted a winch on the RZR, does it need any mounting brackets, or are they already part of the bike? I am buying a winch from Cabelas, because I have a whole bunch of Cabelas bucks to use up, so its free. They have the 4000# winch on sale for the same as the 3000# one, but it has a different mounting bolt pattern. Will it work on the RZR, or do I have to stay with the 3000# winch?

You will need the polaris mounts. Check to see if you can order just them.
Ok, but does the Polaris mounts have both mounting holes available? The 4000# winch uses a wider bolt pattern.
Although I do not have my RZR yet I actually just ordered all my accessories today. I really wanted to get the XT30 (http://www.warn.com/atv/winches/XT30.shtml) instead of the RT30 (http://www.warn.com/atv/winches/RT30.shtml) that's listed in the RZR "Go To Market Guide" because the XT30 has the synthetic cable and the wireless remote. All the sizing specs are exactly the same for both: 13.12" L x 4.51" D x 4.69" H (33.3cm L x 11.5cm D x 11.9cm H)

When I asked my dealer to order the XT30 I was told that Polaris is only offering the RT30 with the mounting hardware for the RZR. In other words I could buy the XT30 elsewhere if I wanted but the only way to get the mounting hardware was to buy the Polaris branded RT30 (the XT30 is not offered).

Anyone have any feedback on this? Sounds a little odd that Polaris wouldn't have a separate part number for the mounting hardware.

I think it's true that Polaris only sells the mount with the winch itself. I am trying to see if anyone has bought a winch kit from Polaris, as I would like to pay them to use the mount for less than a week to have an aftermarket one fabricated that could be sold as a stand alone kit (this would likely make the price of the same kit (Warn RT3.0 with mount) down to about $450 or possibly even less, plus it would allow people to use other winches that are even less (in some cases hundreds less). If anyone has a kit that they have not installed and wants a $70 refund on the price of it for being without the mount for a few days let me know. Also, the question about the mount for the 4.0 is I think it's unlikely the 4.0 mounting holes will be in the Polaris mount, based on what I have seen. The aftermarket one we are trying to design would (if possible) accomodate that winch also (but not the Ramsey 5000, which is too large to fit I am certain.

If the 4K winch will physically 'fit' in the space that the 3K winch goes, I'm sure you could fab your own mounting plate. Or if you're not set up to do metalworking, a local shop could probably fix you up. I'll eventually install a winch on my RZR, but I'm waiting on the right deal to come along.

The Warn 4.0 is longer (side to side) as the 3.0, but otherwise is the same dimensionally, so I think it will fit as long as tire clearance when turning does not come into play.
Thanks for the info guys. It looks like I will probably just order one from polaris, and save my cabelas bucks for somthing else.[V]
I have the 3000 pound mounted on my rzr. Did it my self in the garage. there are only holes for the 3000# winch. Just see if you can order the two mounting brackets from polaris and buy the 3000# from Cabelas. It will be more than enough winch for the rzr.
i just buy 2500 it should do the job
because i'm not a mud freek lool

it's not install yet because i'm still waiting

Were you able to buy the mounting brackets from polaris without the winch, or are you going to make your own?

i gone make my own bracket or modify the one that comes with the winch
I'm lost...someone explain to me what the RZR already has for mounting a winch. What are the brackets for? What I'm picturing from the discussion is there is a platform to mount the winch and it's predrilled for the 2500-3000 winch. Brackets are for mounting the fairlead then?

There is not a platform currently on the RZR to mount the winch to. Hence the need for a mount.
Still looking for the mounting hardware? Mine comes in on WED next week if you still need one to fab up.

Thanks for clearing that up. So it's the official MOUNT that has the bolt pattern for the 2500 & 3000 winches...

I've installed 3 winches in the past and always saved a bunch by buying used & adapting the mount to my needs. That approach doesn't look like an option this time. [:(]

Yes I do!! I will gladly pay you for the trouble and have it picked up and delivered back to you!
Matt, if you get it let me show it to my Fab guy too. He might give a better price.

Will do, as long as he can give it a quick look since once I ship it to my fab guy I am going to have them direct ship it back to the customer.
Anyone have a mount out yet ready for purchase?
