So I stripped the Allen key head on my 2012 800xp front diff drain plug on my 2nd fluid change...last time I changed it I only snugged it on and did not crank it down.... So I went searching the web and found out the damn plug is $43.00 shipped to the house trough fix my toys with the prc forum discount code!!!! WTF is this thing made of platinum??? I figured it would be like $10-15 dollars at most...am I missing something here??? I contacted moose racing and they stated they do not make a plug for that application....The depth of the key hole is only around 1/4 inch on the front diff and around 1/2 inch on the oil and rear diff...I am guessing there are clearance issues with the front diff depth....Do any of you guys know of a cheaper alternative for the front drain plug??? Is there something I can do to prevent this in the future???:mad-new::mad-new::mad-new:

They are O ring boss plugs, can be purchased with the Allen socket head or a hex head made of different materials.
You can purchase them at your local hydraulic shop/business for probably around $5 to $12 dollars depending on the material it's made out of.
Or get the dimensions and look them up online. O ring Boss plugs.
If it has the magnet in it, it will be harder to locate.
But you can purchase a standard plug, drill it and install a magnet or remove the one in the old plug and use it.

I found out after machining replacements for the trans drain plug that it's an O ring boss plug. If the thread is 3/4" diameter & fine, it's a 1/2" plug. Yes they are available w/ an external hex rather than the socket head style.

can't believe those things can cost that much.

Anyone tried going to the local part store to see if anyone can cross it to a generic plug?
yah did it for a rzr for my buddy, came in a 2 pack so kept one...box is long gone. lol Also i have some others laying here i grabbed from work. An oring boss fitting works great, can also be substituted for a flat head copper washer style also if needed. Avoid the a "hex" shapped on on the bottom of engine though...the flush flat ones are best there...wont catch rocks n sticks n things n stuff...
