Got a 2007 ranger 700. Had it for about a month now and all seems to be good. I was told by the guy I bought it from that it should have a fuel guage on the digital dash and that the broken wire in the picture was the reason it didn’t. He had one of the tank cap gauges on it that has since broke. I have another one ordered but the do seem rather cheap and seem to be something that would break often. Any one have a part number for the wire harness to fix the broken one? Would that fix the gauge on the dash?

Code, it is hard to say if the gauge would work even if the third wire was connected. That portion of the wiring is a part of the fuel assembly and many times on a 2007 that connection on the INSIDE bottom of the assembly lid is actually fried up. ....Yes, fried up..... I have repaired mine a couple of times and I just recently purchased the newer style gas tank from a 2009 that has the spin on nut to retain the fuel assembly rather than the six hold down screws. You can then buy a entire new fuel assembly on ebay for about sixty bucks that will have all new wiring and connections and also a new pump, filter and regulator. Normally by now the black canister fuel filter above the pump on a 2006/07 is plugged up/cracked anyway.

Worst come to worst, you can cut out the connectors and hard wire the fuel assembly and if the gauge doesn't work you know the connection on the inside is probably scorched.

I hadn’t even thought about that. I’m working on installing a bed lift right now so I already have everything ready. I’m guessing just match up wire colors? I’ll give this a shot first

Well sadly that didn’t work. Inserting back in didn’t work either. I had already tried that. Looks like I need a new assembly. Would the 09 spin on style work without having to replace the tank as well?

Have to replace the tank to the spin on style. Powersportsnation.com has a few 2009 fuel tanks for $200.00 although I got this one from a dismantler in Idaho... Here is the new assembly that actually works....many of the knock offs don't even fit... Fuel Pump Assembly For 2008-2013 Polaris Ranger 500/700/800 EFI 2204306 2520817 | eBay

So for about $260.00 you would have a nearly new complete fuel set up...

Here’s a little update. Tried matching the wire and didn’t initially work. Haven’t really had time to mess with it since. But started it up and drove it around yesterday evening and noticed the fuel guage was flickering and working intermittently! I checked the top wire for a loose connection and they seemed fine. Is there some connections on the inside that could be loose? It seemed to flicker when I would hit a bump. Never stayed lit for more than a few seconds without flickering out again.

DErrrrrrrrrr code, have you read any of the previous glimpses of genius in this thread ????? Like this one :

"Code, it is hard to say if the gauge would work even if the third wire was connected. That portion of the wiring is a part of the fuel assembly and many times on a 2007 that connection on the INSIDE bottom of the assembly lid is actually fried up. ....Yes, fried up ."
