so listen here..... i know i've written about this before... but i've broken two belts in 20 hours, the motor mounts look solid, the alignment looks good, (dont really know how to measure but the light marking on the front pulley shows it to be just to the right) not sure if this means anything at all... but it's there..... 2nd I drove 115 miles today to a dealer who stated they had the new belt, when i got there they didn't... thanks dealer.... where can i get one of these new belts?... or perhaps a couple, what have we heard about dayco belts?... highlifter?... or even dragon fire.?... i've done my research... but there hasn't been any great answer to a correct fix up to this point, and i'm somewhat discouraged, 20 hrs.... $1500.00 worth of accessories and $200.00 worth of belts, the calculations are about $3/ a mile... LOL>. gas prices are no comparrison to belt prices!!!... is it me?... am i a hell raiser?...or is it the setup?... are you guys running extra heavy belts??? i hear talk about rerouting the belt exhaust!! whatever it is, that's keepin you guys together... I need to know!! and at a very rapid RATE!! LOL :)...granted i've just lifted it 3" and ordered my 28" 589's and 1 1/2 spacers, which are not gonna help my belt issues, there has got to be a fix, wether it's the white sring, the bikeman's clutch and wide belt kit.... i'm definately in on that but, he doesn't expect deliveries until june.... there has got to be a temp fix... that'll atleast get me up to june, so i can add the clutch and wide belt... and ohh yah... ecu..... HELP!! gotta girls gone wild mudfest here in south florida on sat coming!! get me together!!! where to buy the belts?.... aftermarket?... wider?.. better?.. stronger?... share some info!! :)

Sorry to hear of your belt issue. I have an 06 XP with 340 hours of hard use. Gone through one belt in that time period. I am running ITP 589 M/S On mine (26")and have not had much belt problem at all. My first one went after 235 hours. But, it had a hard life! Hope you can find the source of your troubles. Double check the motor mount

Hi 'Dontletit'

You have GOT to have something out of whack in there somewhere. I've got 150 hrs. on my Ranger, 2" lift, 27" Bighorn tires, and I have never fried a belt. I've burned a flat spot in one when I was REALLY stuck in mud, but never broke one. Unless you're operating your Ranger in some way that is extraordinary, I can't believe there is not an alignment problem or something like that. Just my 2 cents.

The 200 dollar question is has you dealer checked the belt alignment? I would also check the motormount yourself, dealers have been known to check and miss the problem on occasion.

If you listen to the "Dirtwheels" magazine article, Rangers burn their belts just climbing a hill. I think Yamaha must own stock in that mag, although this last shootout wasn't as one sided as usual but the Rhino is the one their hard earned dollar will buy.

You could call dale and see if he could next day the clutch alignment tool to you. I don't think they are that much $. Call Polaris of highpoint or Naturecoast and see if they could next day you the New XP belt. Dale might even have a good belt to send with the tool.

I just broke a belt this weekend with only 35 hours on it. I was so pissed off I would of traded in the ranger. Just cruising down the road about 35 mph and it went. After taking everything off to get to the belt the thing was in pieces all over. Then it took me almost an hour to get all the string out of the rear pulley... what a pain. .... if these things are only going to hold up for a short time and be such a pain to replace... I guees the new improved belt will be on order.... 2007 XP 700 pulled down the road by HONDA

The easiest way to check the front motor mount is rev up the motor in with the seat off. You can see the front of the motor a moving at that front mount. It's plainly visible and hard to screw up.

I am quite " PISSED " as well I live in canada and have been a loyal Polaris owner. But this ranger 700 xp has blowen 3 belts in 75 hrs. Every time my wife and I take it for a ride we seem to get pulled home. I am just about at my limit. I am thinking of getting rid of it as we speak, My dealer keeps telling me there is nothing wrong, but after spending time and money on replacing belts, I am becoming very frustrated. As I have read on this forum I am not the only one having problems. I wonder if the Polaris brass knows of this problem we are having PLEASE HELP

The sad thing is you pay a lot of money for one of these and I'm still not sure the company wants to admit there's a problem. I've gone through 2 belts in 60 hours - first one the dealer paid for the second I paid. I now have their new belt but haven't been out

What really tees me off now is that I am afraid to go anywhere without having all the tools to repair another belt. Where I live and go you just don't get on a phone and call someone. And I don't want to have to worry about having someone with a honda follow me all over just in case. God help me if it is dark and out in the middle of no where... Now I am starting to understand the concept of WHAT TO CARRY ON YOUR RANGER.
