I have went back and forth for weeks on tires for my new 570 Full Size. I have narrowed it down to the following......Moto MTC's in 26" or 28" or the Moto Claw 27" tires on Kore 14" wheels. I will be doing gravel road riding, hard pack, logging trails, some light mud and every once in awhile an ATV park or two. Which tires would you choose for my machine???? I want to order tires and can't decide.

If you're wanting to add ground clearance, why even consider 26's? Stick with a 28's at least; that would be my first pick. And, since the Moto MTC's come in 28"....DONE! :)
I don't have any experience with those tires, so I can't speak to the merits of them.

I would go with the Maxxis Big Horns, I will never ride with out them. First used them out west doing a lot of riding in the desert and in the mountains. Great in the sand, mud, snow and in real rocky areas. You cant go wrong!!!

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but have you considered Interco SSR Radials? Super Swamper Tires Part SSR-02R - 27x9.50R14LT, SSR Radial - 4 Wheel Parts
Most likely the last tire you'll need for quite some time and you could probably get away with moving your shocks to the outside hole and not even have to buy the forward arms.

:indecisiveness:

Tire Specs:
MOTO MTC
  • Size - 28x10x14
  • Tread Depth - 1.25"
  • Weight - 39#
  • Plys - 6
  • OD - 28"
  • Max Load - 1000#
  • Cost per set - $691.96 (Rocky Mtn ATV/MC)

Interco SSR Radial
  • Size - 27X9.50R14LT
  • Tread Depth - 19/32
  • Weight - 41#
  • Plys - 6
  • OD - 27.5
  • Max Load 1585#
  • Cost per set -$581.96 (4wheelparts.com)

I like the 28" but only concern is will that large of tire have a bad effect on trail stability on forestry roads with gravel?

OP, of those choices I'd go with the MTC's.

I too was interested in the MTC's but after researching the Moto MTC's my next set will be ITP Blackwater Evolutions.

And how do the Moto MTC's ride on the road ? I travel a mile or so on the black top from one trail to another.

^Have heard they ride rough on hardpack. One thing to consider with the MTC's is they are heavy for a tire that is NOT even 8 ply. 6 ply non radial, no thanks.

No. I have 31s and drive like a bat out of hell on trails sometimes.

How about the Blackwater Evolutions over the MTC's in 28"? Do they run true to size?

MTC's all the way! I'm running my second set of 28's and love 'em! Will do everything you would want to do (unless your looking for a deep mud tire) they ride smooth on the hard surfaces and wear good too..

Not completly. I have the Blackwater's. With 8 PSI they are about a 1/4" smaller with full weight of biike on them.

I've had Bighorn and Blackwater. I'd go Blackwater all day. The horns have a very soft sidewall compared to the black waters. They are a much tougher tire than the horns.

How do you like those tires for gravel and loose stuff? Ride at about 40mph?
