hey guys ,,,im planning on installing a fuse box under the hood for more accessories but I only want power when the key is on ,,is it safe to install a big relay to power up the fuse box??? mabe 70 or 80 amp relay

I did this. Just like u I only wanted it to be in with the key on. I used an 85 amp solenoid for this

I'm interested in doing the same thing. Just haven't gotten that far yet. Can you post what you did and how you did it when you are done? Thanks, Bill

I'll get some pics when I can- I got a blue sea marine 85 amp solenoid and ran 6 ga wire to that from my 2nd battery. The solenoid is activated by a keyed hot source so it's only hot when key is on - the other side of the solenoid is ran to my 12 position blue sea fuse block

I also have a 100 amp circuit breaker between the battery and solenoid.

Make sure you get a solenoid rated for continuous duty not intermittent duty
