I have never tried installing a white spring and washer.Probably because I have no idea how.Does any one have photos of when they did it.Or just tell me steps.Everything I read on forum says I should do this.
I have a question that I'm sure has been answered before, but I haven't seen it on here yet. What is the washer for and where does it go? Is it to raise the preload on the spring? If so why not just use a spring with more preload? Is it to space out the clutch allowing the belt more room to slip at idle?
Unless I am mistaken, the washer goes on the outside, under the bolt head, to space the clutch closer giving it quicker response on takeoff. Now, some of the clutch experts will have to tell you more than that! Good luck.
Ok, Now I have another question. If you put the washer on the outside of the clutch under the bolt head, doen't that take the clutch out of alignment with the motor? Why not just machine off .030 off of the inside of the clutch where the two sheaves meet?
I just called my local Polaris dealer for the white spring part no 7041132 and he told me that was not a valid Polaris part number. Can anyone help me out I would like to do this mod but they cannot tell me what the part number is only stock part numbers.
I have a white spring I will sell you for $20 and shipping. I never installed it because I went with all new clutches from Bikeman. It's here for anyone interested.
