Randy,
Man what nice looking Ranger you have, congrats on all the work. I don't like the battery under the hood because I have a winch and that's a lot of weight on it's own and added weight on the front end. You may want too check between the frame rails under the bed, that's where I plan on putting an add. battery if and when.

Welcome to the PRC Randy. I made a posting on one of the threads a few days ago called "getting ready for Moab". I posted some pictures of a battery box we make at the shop. It's aluminum and fits in the area over the radiator where the serations in the plastic are. It lowers the battery 2 1/2" which fits a group seven, 550 cold cranking amps, inexpensive with two 40-45 inch side post cables from any parts store. Hook them up in parallel to the stock battery, positive to positive, negative to negative. It makes the system support winches, driving lights, radio or any other extra equipment that requires longer power draws. The alternator only puts out a little less than 50 amps so the power draw from hi-power lights or winch can drain the small stock battery in a hurry. Hope this has been useful info, if you're going to Moab for the UTV Rally the first week of June I can show you the setup. E-mail me if need be.

That battery box looks awesome, you did a great job. Like Allan said though, with all the stuff I already have on the front end, I would be afraid of even more wallowing around when the springs settle. On an XP, the Rangerware puts the battery on the passenger side behind the gas tank.

Nice box, Gordo! What would ya charge a man to make one? I've got the tools and talent....but little time these days. And it looks like you've got it down already....no since in reinventing the wheel.
