Brandon will come on soon and let you know all the details because we had to leave early, but heres a short recap. At the AZ Sandfest sand drags this weekend, he came out with a bone stock RZR and went up against Prowler racers, Rhino Racers and beat all of them.
This is going to be an interesting year. If anyone is going to be near Parumph, NV for the TT250 you will be able to see one race.

Gosh, that's gotta hurt...[B)]

Our not very modded '04 Rhino is obviously not worth squat today; yet if I had bumped my head back then and gone totally 'bling bling' every year up until today...then got my butt spanked by a stock Rzr going for at least the additional 10 grand that I had thrown into a Rhino, Prowler or Ranger...[:0]

Is DragonFire (or any other accessory partner) going to race theirs against JaggedX's; or is JX the only one concentrating on being the first ever to show of their engineering in competition? (a fact that I'd hold over my competition for years if Polaris has indeed given the green light to race 'em for everybody that got one early).

I was pre running in Pahrump NV this weekend, but Brandon did take the a Jagged X RZR out to Sandfest to run the sand drags. The RZR was completely stock in every way (including tires) It had some leg minders and harnesses to comply with the safety reg.Not much engineering to show off here like I said bone stock. The goal here was to offer some idea of how the RZR stacks up compared to other side by sides. From what I was told the only SxS that beat the RZR was a fully modified Prowler with a turbocharged Can Am motor swap. I have been telling everyone about the RZR since we first got to test them back in Jan. These things run really really good. They are especially quick out of the hole, which made them really good for this type of sand drag. As far as a "green Light" from Polaris. They want to promote their new vehicle. What better way than to have it show up in as many places as possible. Highlifter competed at the Mud nationals earlier this month in Texas with their RZR's, Dragonfire has had his RZR's in Moab, Ut and I understand they are planning on racing in Baja 500 with one or more of them. and Jagged x will be racing a RZR at the TT250 later this month. So far I think the hype is working!

I probably didn't make myself clear (imagine that) and was referring to you guys competing engineering-wise in head-to-head racing competition. While I'm sure that is soon to come; it's actually nice (after reading your post) that you and DragonFire happened to go your separate ways (competion-wise) somewhat; while at the same time greatly increasing our overall initial exposure to this thing in different locales.

Again, we really appreciate you taking the time to come on here and talk with us.
Nobody else out there is doing it and like Brian @ BRP did with the exploding Rhino business years ago; you certainly deserve our first look when it comes to these accessories.
BTW, I always thought that this 'accessible' attitude was somewhat key to Brian's character and success; as he seemed to be never shy about simply coming out and interacting with the 'uncleansed' among us mere peon orv enthusiasts out here with varied questions in hand (now if we could just get national non-profit OHV leadership [)] to do the same....).

I always thought that this event attracted some pretty serious people in the sand drag world.
Is this simply the 44% power-to-weight ratio talking (my guess); was nobody there with the latest engine/tire set-up (not likely)...or are these things just that good out of the hole and about to put some pretty wide smiles on a lot of folk's faces?

This news just seems almost impossible with the amount of tinkering that has gone down over the past few years with the machines that this Rzr was up against; including three relatively new models to the scene. (Rhino/Prowler/Ranger XP).

Has anybody who got beat that day had anything to say?
I mean, this is the kind of the thing that these guys dream about...spankin' the modded guys hard with a bone stock unit! (uhh, that didn't sound right[V]).

The folks in Minnesota and elsewhere who have worked long and hard on this have just got to be lovin' this bit of news.

the rzr does accellerate good but Im not impressed, my prowler has a rotax 800 that will out perform that polaris motor any day of the week,I put a turbo on it which just makes it that much better. The drags at az sand fest were 200" not 300".I beat the rzr good for 200" and I was just Building power. My friends rhino has a 760 racers edge motor and weighs hundreds more and beat the rzr once and finished right there with the rzr each race.once everyone builds cages and puts on heavy tires and tims they will slow down.As small as that thing is it better move good. sorry but it looks like a ride my kids like to play on at the dairy queen.

I think the point was comparing it to stock machines....I wouldn't expect it to beat a turboed rotax or a custom built race engine...I am sure if the same modifications were done to the rzr, it would come out on top due to the weight advantage it has...If I spent the cash that your friend has on his rhino and didn't totally walk away from a stock unit, I would be very unhappy...You told us just how well it does perform by letting us know it kept up with a Rhino with a 760 racers edge engine in it...Thanks!!!! Sounds pretty impressive to me...I bet he didn't get where he is today for 10g's....Would the prowler or Rhino beat it in stock trim?

Now correct me if I'm wrong....but didn't somebody say that there was only ONE machine that beat the Razr that day at this huge 'quit talkin' let's see what you've got' event...and that was indeed the same CanAm motor swap[/b:9d4b9b9f1b]?

Are you saying that yours was the Rotax that beat it across the line?

"...My friends rhino has a 760 racers edge motor and weighs hundreds more and beat the rzr once..."

OK; now we've got "2" different rigs that beat the Rzr that day...what's the story here?

"...Once everyone builds cages and puts on heavy tires and tims they will slow down...."

Gosh, that sounds like the beginning of a rivalry if I've ever heard one. Any comeback out there from the aftermarket community(?)

Ouch![B)][:)]
Sounds like there is not only some dispute as to just what happened in Arizona that day...but a little 'bring it' attitude out there as well.[8D]

Todd,

Did you actually read that post before you put it on here? What is not impressive is out of all these wildly modified units, only one, yours, seems to have beaten a STOCK RZR!! Come talk to us when the aftermarket starts making goodies for the RZR!![:D]

Wow You people sure read a lot into every thing.Yeah I know exactly what I said in response to the post making comments on oh the rzr spanks prowlers rhinos etc ,that was not the case. and if anybody thinks that there gonna buy one of those rzrs in phoenix for $9900 I would be shocked. As far as engine mods that thing will never be any faster. the quad is no rocket so what miracle is gonna happen to make it faster.Modifications wont come cheap either those rhinos you say have oh so much money to get where they are you will be right there with em.By the way the rzr and 760 rhino were a good race remember the weight difference.the race rhino weighs hundreds more.so Im not impressed.by the way a stock 800 rotax will run away from the polaris 800 all day long. I dont think the polaris 800 will get any more power with aftermarket parts becuase of it design.
