It's just a piece of aluminum. I just put on there to help keep stuff from sliding out he side

Looks very functional. I like it.

I ended up buying the Super ATV rack for mine. Instead of buying the traditional crossbar for mounting the spare, I might add a shelf similar to what you did. Looks like it would be way more versatile.
