Hi All -
I've had my XP900 for about 3 weeks and am loving it!

Quick question to get your thoughts - both rear tires are leaning in from bottom to top. Is that normal? The way I see it, if anything, they should be leaning out so when a load is there they would level out. Am I viewing this backwards? I've included two pictures to give you an idea but they don't show the lean as well as I'd like. Also, the right seems to be leaning a little more than the left. Thanks! Typically negative camber in the rear is designed for corning, as the contact patch will be at its greatest whereas if it were positive or neutral the tire would corner on edge. 1-3* is a fair range.

Or on he other hand, the guy at the drawing board had a few to many and the upper a arms are a wee short.

This is normal by design.
The suspension geometry has a couple of degrees of negative camber built into it. As stated above it does create a wider contact patch of the tires, this will keep you from rolling over the side wall of the tires. But does wear the inside of the tires. It helps with stability when driving and especially cornering.

And as also stated above, as the A arm bushings wear, the tires will lean in more.

Thanks, everyone! I didn't think about cornering and how it would affect the suspension. When it comes time for bushings, I'll make sure and check back for installation tips. :fat:

Just an observation here but if or can you move the shocks to the outer holes would that not straighten this up a bit? Although you may loose some cornering geometry it should gain better feel on body roll, at least it did on my 700.

Well Hoopjd, on the brighter side, I've got over 4500 miles on my XP900 and the bushings, bearings, and brakes are still good to go.:excitement::encouragement:

I started a thread on this a few months back and got a lot of the same responses.dont mean that in a negative way either.I notice that the Jap sxs's wheels stand up straight. When I put bigger tires on it was more pronounced.put a level on the side of the tire and it was leaning in 1 3/4 inch.long story short I extended upper a arms 5/16 in and wheels are standing up straight.actually it was a simple fix and didn't take long to do.Some folks it doesn't bother and some it does.Glad I done it.Just looks better imo.

If it bugs Ya to much you can also crank so more pre-load in the shocks and that will take away some of it as well as some of the plush ride.

The XP chassis has a suspension much like many cars with an upper and lower control arm. Stronger springs, lift kits and bigger tires don't do much to change camber. I tried moving the suspension up and down through full travel without the shock/spring assembly attached and checked camber throughout the movement. There is little change. The fix is adjustable "A" Arms which i ended up putting on both the front and rear pf my Ranger 570 Full Size with XP chassis. SATV has them, they may be on sale right now.
